Poruba is the place where you have lived
since you were born and where you are
serving your second term as mayor. How
would you describe Poruba in just a few
sentences?
Poruba is a very specific part of Ostrava.
When a resident of Poruba goes to
Moravian Ostrava, for example, he doesn't
say I'm going to the city centre, he says
I'm going to Ostrava, which always makes
me smile. We're just part of the city,
and yet we seem to be a little bit outside
of it. And how to describe our district?
The people of Poruba are great patriots
and they are proud of where they live.
And they have something to be proud of.
We are one of the best, if not the best,
addresses in Ostrava. Residents appreciate
the abundance of greenery, the availability
of quality education, the infrastructure
and many others. When I talk to residents
about Poruba, I am happy that they also
appreciate where the district is heading.
Where is the direction of Poruba heading?
We want Poruba to be a modern urban
district. That is why we have prepared various
projects to cultivate public space. Some
of them have already been implemented,
others are planned in forthcoming years,
and others are in the preparation stage.
We want to have as many of them in our
'drawer' as possible. There could always
come up a suitable subsidy title and we
want to be ready. Those who are ready are
not surprised. We are ready.
You say that you have already managed
to implement a number of projects. Can
you be more specific?
If I were to list them all, it would be
a long story. Therefore, I will mention just
