Jedním z nejvýraznějších hráčů v tom-
to regionu je společnost Tatra, která má
bohatou historii sahající až do začátku
20. století. Tatra se specializuje na výrobu
nákladních automobilů, vojenských a spe-
ciálních vozidel. Inovativní přístup a kva-
litní produkty zajišťují firmě stabilní pozici
na trhu a přispívají k silnému obrazu Mo-
ravskoslezského kraje v automobilovém
průmyslu.
Zlomový okamžik v nedávné historii re-
gionu nastal s příchodem automobilky
Hyundai v roce 2008, což výrazně posí-
lilo místní automobilový sektor i samotný
nárůst dodavatelských firem v souvislosti
s tímto odvětvím.
Klíčovou společností, která se významně
podílí na rozvoji regionu, je také němec-
ká automobilka Porsche. Ta rozšířila svou
přítomnost v kraji v roce 2018, kdy v Os-
travě otevřela své výzkumné a vývojové
centrum se zaměřením na rozvoj softwa-
ru v oblasti elektromobility či autonomní
jízdy. Vzhledem k tomu, že se pobočka
nachází na křižovatce České republiky,
Slovenska a Polska, nabízí Porsche Engi-
neering šanci inženýrům ze všech tří zemí.
Dalším z důvodů pro volbu Moravsko-
slezského kraje je dosah hned několika
technických univerzit na území České re-
publiky i sousedních zemí. Právě tato kom-
binace umožňuje dokonalý přenos know-
-how a vzdělávání pracovníků v oboru.
Moravskoslezský kraj rovněž věří v per-
spektivu alternativních pohonů. Nejde
však jen o elektromobilitu, nýbrž i o využití
vodíku jako paliva. V roce 2018 se Morav-
skoslezský kraj a město Ostrava dohodly
na podpoře vodíkových technologií ve
veřejné dopravě a podepsaly memoran-
dum o spolupráci v této oblasti s firmou
Vítkovice Cylinders ze skupiny Cylinders
Holding. Tento krok symbolizuje postup-
ný přechod regionu do bezuhelné éry
a zároveň podporuje bezemisní dopravu,
přispívající ke zlepšení životního prostředí
a plnění cílů ekologické transformace EU,
v níž má doprava výrazný podíl.

The automove industry is one of the pillars of the economy not only of the Moravian-Silesian
Region, but also of the enre Czech Republic. In the long term, it accounts for about 9% of
the naonal GDP and employs more than 180,000 people. The Moravian-Silesian Region itself
has become home to several key sectors of the automove industry and more than 40 companies
operate here. The region's high level of technology, innovave research and skilled workforce make
it an aracve desnaon for automove companies, including major automove giants.
One of the most significant players in this
region is Tatra, which has a rich history
dating back to the early 20
th
century.
Tatra specialises in the production of
trucks, military vehicles and special
vehicles. Their innovative approach and
quality products ensure a stable market
position and contribute to the strong
image of the Moravian-Silesian Region in
the automotive industry.
A turning point in the region's recent
history came with the arrival of Hyundai
in 2008, which significantly strengthened
the local automotive sector and the sheer
growth of supplier companies related to
this sector.
The German car manufacturer Porsche
is also a key company contributing
significantly to the development in
the region. The company expanded its
presence in the region in 2018, when it
opened its research and development
centre in Ostrava with a focus on software
development in the field of electromobility
or autonomous driving. As the branch is
located at the crossroads of the Czech
Republic, Slovakia and Poland, Porsche
Engineering offers a chance to engineers
from all three countries. Another reason
for choosing the Moravian-Silesian region
is the reach of several technical universities
in the Czech Republic and neighbouring
countries. It is this combination that allows
for the perfect transfer of know-how and
training in the field.
The Moravian-Silesian Region also
believes in the prospect of alternative
drives. However, it is not only about
electromobility, but also about
the use of hydrogen as a fuel. In 2018,
the Moravian-Silesian Region and the city
of Ostrava agreed to promote hydrogen
technologies in public transport and
signed a memorandum of cooperation
in this area with Vítkovice Cylinders
from the Cylinders Holding Group.
The move symbolises the region's gradual
transition to a coal-free era, while at the
same time promoting emission-free
transport, contributing to environmental
improvements and meeting the EU's
ecological transformation goals, where
transport has a significant share.
