POSITIV Awarded the Faculty
of Medicine and the University Hospital
The pre-Christmas social gala evening REGION PRO SEBE 2023 held at the Clarion Congress Hotel
Ostrava included not only a great cultural programme, but also an award ceremony.
The tradional event is organized annually by the Associaon for the Development of
the Moravian-Silesian Region as a meeng of its members and supporters with important
personalies of the region. The general partner of this year's 22
nd
edion was Ridera Bohemia a.s.
The programme of the gala evening
included performances by dancers from
the Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava,
DUO ARPEGGIO by the Schneider sisters
with harp and Spanish guitar, and two-time
winner of the Thalia Award in the musical
catergory Tomáš Savka with his cabaret
"Christmas Jonas and the honky-tonk".
In a wonderful atmosphere, the prizes of
the 5th year of the SCHOOL FRIENDLY
competition, organized by the Association
for the Development of the Moravian-
Silesian Region and its partners in
cooperation with the Moravian-Silesian
Region, were announced and presented.
This competition rewards the best
schools and companies for their mutual
cooperation. The awards were presented
in the categories COMPANY, SCHOOL
and JOINT PROJECT.
The POSITIV Business and Style
magazine together with the Association
for the Development of the Moravian-
Silesian Region awarded and presented
the prize for "POSITIVE achievement for
the development of the region in the field
of health care" as part of the gala evening
programme. The award was presented
by the Governor of the Moravian-
Silesian Region, Jan Krkoška, together
with the publisher of POSITIV magazine,
Dan Koneval, and the Chairman of the
POSITIV Editorial Board, Radúz Mácha to
the Faculty of Medicine of the University
of Ostrava and the University Hospital
Ostrava.
The awards were jointly accepted on stage
in front of the TV cameras by the Dean of
the Faculty of Medicine Rastislav Maďar
and the Director of the University Hospital
Jiří Havrlant.
The two award-winning institutions work
closely together to teach students in more
than 20 study programmes. In addition
to doctors, they also educate nurses,
paramedics, laboratory technicians,
physiotherapists, occupational therapists,
public health professionals and other
desirable medical specialisations. Their
continuous supply into practice is
absolutely crucial for the functioning of
health care and prevention in our region.
In record time, they have built up the
space, material and personnel facilities
for the accreditation of dentistry. Thus,
for the first time in history, our region is
home to a hatchery of a highly sought-
after stomatological discipline. The two
institutions are also increasingly developing
scientific research together.
In the Advent atmosphere of the gala
evening, Mons. Martin David, Bishop of
Ostrava-Opava delivered a Christmas
message. At the very end of the wonderful
and pleasant evening, three hundred
participants sang together the Czech
Christmas song ‚Purpura‘.
