Ostrava Airport

Multimodal Park

Will Help to Move Cargo

Traffic from Roads to Railway

In June 2019 Moravian-Silesian Region Governor Ivo Vondrák and Ostrava Mayor Tomáš Macura

attended the festive opening of the first hall in the Ostrava Airport Multimodal Park logistic

centre, located next to Leoš Janáček International Airport Ostrava.

Mošnov will boast of the largest logistics centre in Central

Europe directly connected to a European motorway

and railway networks when the Ostrava Airport

Multimodal Park is finished. The first hall, with an

area of 57,133m2, has been ready for almost a year. The

total area of the multimodal park is 52ha with a plan to

provide over 234,000m2 of warehousing and production

facilities, which are going to be built in several stages. The

second hall is currently being built to offer contractors an

area of 48,864m2 from early 2020. There will be railways

sidings connecting the two greatest halls to the railway

infrastructure, with a combined-transport terminus designed

for trains up to 700 metres long, allowing for a large part of

cargo to be moved from the road to railways with ease.

Another significant event took place in September when the

Moravian-Silesian Region Government, the Statutory City

of Ostrava, the Railways Infrastructure Manager (Správa

železniční a dopravní cesty), the joint stock company

Concens Investments, and Port Antwerp signed the

Memorandum on Mutual Assistance and Cooperation.

Over 235 million tons of cargo handled in 2018 make

Antwerp the fastest growing port in Europe. The port sees

a great opportunity to enhance business relations with

the Moravian-Silesian Region and the whole of the Czech

Republic through the newly built multimodal terminus in

Mošnov. “We support railway traffic as a crucial alternative

to road transport,” said Mr Wim Dillen, representing the

company Port of Antwerp. “The Multimodal Park has the

ambition to become one of the most significant logistics

centres which support long-term sustainability.”

The developer of the project is Concens Investments,

a company focusing their activities on commercial and

industrial real estate. Mr Petr Kalina, statutory CEO of the

company, commented on the construction of the logistics

centre in Mošnov, saying, “Our decision to make the

Ostrava Airport Multimodal Park project actually

happen fully corresponds with our investments in the clear,

long-term plan to create a portfolio of premium industrial

premises with added value for prospective contractors. The

obvious added value in Mošnov is the terminus of combined

transport which is in direct connection to the warehousing

and production capacities, absolutely unique within

a Central European context.”
