a David Viktora z Národního divadla moravskoslezského. Za
výkony v opeře byli oceněni Barbora Řeřichová a Svatopluk Sem,
za muzikál Lukáš Adam a Martina Šnytová a za balet cenu získali
Barbora Šulcová a Rei Masatomi.
vystoupili i zpěváci Martin Chodúr a Tomáš Savka, zpěvačka Hana

Talented Artists of the Moravian-Silesian
Region at Jantar Awards.
The first ever award ceremony presenting winners of the Regional Cultural Awards, Jantar (Amber), was
held on Sunday, April 15. The set of 16 trophies was distributed among artists who keep demonstrating
outstanding qualities of culture in the Moravian-Silesian Region. The winners include Lukáš Vondráček,
David Stypka, choir Permoník, painter Hana Puchová, actors Pavla Dostálová and David Viktora and
opera singers Svatopluk Sem and Barbora Řeřichová.
About a thousand visitors came to the Hall Gong to hear and see
who and what the eight expert committees chose. The festive
show introduced the best artists of the Moravian-Silesian Region.
The event was organized by Ostravan.cz (a web portal focused on
culture) with support by from the Council of the Moravian-Silesian
Region, with the ambition to make it the main event of the season
in Moravian-Silesian culture.
“I am very proud of the Moravian-Silesian Region to have as many
exceptionally talented personalities in all spheres of culture, most
of whom have won respect on national and international levels.
I do appreciate their talents, and I am very grateful for the MoravianSilesian Jantar Culture Awards: they are a perfect instrument to
pay homage to local artists, express our gratitude for their intense
efforts. I was very happy to deliver one of the awards in person
and award Band of the Year,” says Vice Governor, Department of
Culture, Mr Lukáš Curylo.
Four Awards in Pop Music
Three of them were awarded to songwriter from Frýdek-Místek,
David Stypka who was awarded in the categories of the Male Artist Year, Song of the Year (“Dobré ráno, milá” – “Good Morning,
My Dear”) and as a member of Bandjeez, who were named Band
of the Year. Female Artist of the Year went to Vladivojna La Chia.
Two Awards in Classical Music
Permoník choir (from Karviná) won the trophy for Musical
Ensemble of the Year, and pianist Lukáš Vondráček was awarded
Soloist of the Year. He could not attend the celebration in person,
therefore his mother Libuše Vondráčková came to collect the
award.
Fine Arts
Painter Hana Puchová was awarded for her exhibition “Pevné
vazby” (which goes for “strong links” as well as “hard cover”)
in Dům umění (Municipal House of Culture) in Ostrava in 2017.
Poet Jaroslav Žila was awarded in Literature (in memoriam).
Jantar Awards for Theatre Projects
This part presented eight artists in categories similar to the national
Thálie Awards. Pavla Dostálová (Chamber Scene Aréna) and
David Viktora (National Moravian-Silesian Theatre) were awarded
in Drama, Barbora Řeřichová and Svatopluk Sem in Opera, Lukáš
Adam and Martina Šnytová in Musical, and Barbora Šulcová and
Rei Masatomi in Ballet.
The gala ceremony featured the award presentation as well as
a representative three hour programme designed for this very special
opportunity. The audience enjoyed opera singer Patricia Janečková
accompanied by the male vocal quintet 5PAK who sang the theme
from “Once Upon a Time In the West,“ which has become a cult song
due to the Czech version sung by Věra Špinarová, who died last year,
and this performance was dedicated to her. David Stypka and Ewa
Farna performed the duet “Dobré ráno, milá” with the 50-member
child choir, Permoník. More songs by Martin Chodúr and Tomáš
Savka, Hana Fialová, and a composition played by violin virtuoso
Jiří Vodička followed. The ballet company of the National MoravianSilesian Theatre also contributed to a show on the Gong stage.
As originator of the concept, Aleš Honus commented, “The original
idea of an editorial poll grew into a true giant with dozens of
committee members. In a few weeks’ time we are going to start
preparing for the second year.”
