What Is the Biggest Myth
About Hydrogen That You
Would Like to Dispel?
notit a řídit.
pochopiť tieto procesy a zistiť, či ich dokážeme cielene
stimulovať. Aj menší lokálny zdroj môže byť ekonomic-
ky zaujímavý.
I consider the biggest myth to be the idea that hydrogen
is inherently too dangerous. Every technology carries
its own risks – what matters is whether we understand
them and know how to assess and manage them.
Safety should therefore not be a barrier to innovation,
but a natural part of it. This is precisely where I see
the role of the Security Technology Cluster – bringing
together research, technology and practice so that new
technologies can be used safely. We do not need to be
afraid of hydrogen. We need to understand it.
From a geological perspective, a major myth is that
natural “white” hydrogen must occur in large,
static accumulations like conventional natural gas.
A prospective resource may instead be a system
in which hydrogen is actively generated or supplied
from depth. Generation and influx rates may then
matter more than accumulated volume. The challenge
is to understand these processes and determine
whether we can actively manage and stimulate them.
Even a small local resource may be economically viable.
