Jaký největší mýtus
o vodíku
byste chtěl vyvrát?
Hlavní mýtus spočívá v představě, že vodík je jednodu-
ché palivo, které stačí vyrobit a začít používat. Ve sku-
tečnosti jde o velmi náročný prvek: je lehký, snadno
uniká, obtížně se skladuje i přepravuje a jeho bezpečné
využití vyžaduje speciální technologie. V Třineckých
železárnách je situace jiná, s vodíkem ve spojení s vý-
robou oceli existuje potenciál, který chceme využít
a společně s dalšími společnostmi se zabýváme přípra-
vou projektů v oblasti vodíkových technologií. Zároveň
už dnes veškerá nová výrobní zařízení stavíme jako
H
2
-ready pro budoucí využití vodíku, abychom byli při-
praveni s ním pracovat.
The main myth is the idea that hydrogen is a simple fuel
that only needs to be produced before it can start being
used. In reality, it is a very demanding element: it is light,
escapes easily, is difficult to store and transport, and its
safe use requires specialised technologies. At Třinecké
železárny, the situation is different. There is potential
for hydrogen in connection with steel production,
which we want to make use of, and together with other
companies we are working on the preparation
of projects in the field of hydrogen technologies.
At the same time, we are already designing all new
production equipment to be H
2
-ready for the future use
of hydrogen, so that we are prepared to work with it.

Z pozice rektora chci vyvrátit mýtus, že vodík je buď
slepá ulička, nebo zázračná spása. Není to ideologie,
ale pragmatická součást budoucího mixu. Učíme stu-
denty kritickému myšlení a zapojujeme je do praxe – ať
už na CEETe s naší plnicí stanicí a prvním vodíkovým
nákladním autem v ČR, nebo v nově budovaném ino-
vačním polygonu CEETe H
2
, kde budeme reálné mož-
nosti vodíku přímo demonstrovat.
As Rector, I want to dispel the myth that hydrogen
is either a dead end or a miraculous solution. It is not
an ideology, but a pragmatic part of the future energy
mix. We teach our students to think critically and involve
them in practical applications – whether at CEET,
with our hydrogen refuelling station and the first
hydrogen-powered lorry in the Czech Republic,
or at the new CEET H
2
innovation testbed currently
under construction, where we will demonstrate
the real-world potential of hydrogen first-hand.
