Where to Find Paradise on Earth
with a View of Hukvaldy Castle?
Looking for a place where you can play golf or enjoy a peaceful glass of prosecco with a view
of Hukvaldy Castle? A place to stay with friends or family, where sport meets relaxaon, while
children run barefoot around a pond and the only sound breaking the silence is birdsong? Resort
Hukvaldy developed gradually, and the story of how it came to life, is shared by co-owner Tereza
Bartulcová.
How would you describe Resort Hukvaldy?
What is at the heart of it?
Resort Hukvaldy wasn’t a place we drew on paper
one day with the intention of building a resort.
It developed gradually, more as an intuitive response
to the needs of the people and the circumstances
around us. We started with a golf course, which
came about thanks to my husband and brother – they
wanted to make golf more accessible to the general
public. Since then, everything has come together like
a mosaic. First golf, then accommodation for golfers –
the Roubenka guesthouse, which now attracts families
and friends looking to relax and perhaps take a swim
in the natural pond.
My work in interior design later brought me to
the space that has become our “Paradise on Earth.”
The original idea was that women would shop
upstairs while the men enjoyed a coffee. However,
due to regulations, we had to abandon that concept.
We bought the house, renovated it, and created a café
with boutique accommodation.
Our fourth project, once again, was prompted by our
surroundings – a neighbouring plot of land was up for
sale, and we wanted to have a say in who our neighbours
would be. In the end, we turned it into a glamping site
with a sauna, which we’re now launching and fine-
tuning. We landscaped the area so that people could
come here to relax, enjoy the sauna, and unwind
in peace.
Where is the golf course in Hukvaldy located,
and who is it intended for?
In Hukvaldy, we have an eleven-hole course spread
over 16 hectares, with a stunning view of the castle.
Thanks to its shorter length, you can complete a round
in about two hours, making it ideal for those who want
a quality game without it taking up the whole day.
The course is open to the public and welcomes all
generations – from children as young as five to seniors
well into their eighties. We have over 300 members,
but many visitors come just to try golf out or to begin
their training.
What we value most is the sense of community. When
we first started, we saw couples who had never played
sports before; now they play regularly with friends
and even their grandchildren. On weekends, you’ll
find families, children from our golf classes, seniors,
and corporate players all mingling here. The course
has the atmosphere of a place where people
celebrate birthdays and look forward to Friday seniors’
tournaments. It’s a sign for us that golf truly connects
generations and has become a natural part of an active
lifestyle.
Many people don’t realise there’s refreshments
available at the golf course. Is this service only
for members, and what can visitors expect?
It’s not just for golfers – anyone is welcome. Hukvaldy
is full of tourists in the summer, but very few know they
can make a short detour, enjoy a coffee, lemonade
or a glass of prosecco, and take in the beautiful view
of the castle without having to play golf.
The spot is perfect for cyclists, hikers, or anyone looking
to step off the main path for a moment of peace.
We often hear people say they had no idea they could
simply come and sit down here. Yet the clubhouse
is open daily during the summer months, weather
permitting. Everyone is welcome.
