The true night of the First Republic
took place on the 22nd of September 2018 in the courtyard and park of the Šilheřovice chateau.
The event was held in the theme of the First Republic, and it was a worthy celebration of the 100th
anniversary of the creation of Czechoslovakia.
We are happy that the guests accepted the challenge of
dressing in the spirit of the time period, as it allowed them
to better grasp the atmosphere of the First Republic. At
the time, jazz and swing dominated the music industry,
and so the choice of music was simple. The night’s main
stars were Ondřej Havelka and his Melody Makers, and
the popular band from Bratislava, Hot Serenaders. The
orchestras performed with a swing dancehall repertoire.
Dája Šimíčková, along with the group Shadde Yadda,
also enriched the event with their performance.
The masterful performance of the composer and
guitar virtuoso Štěpán Rak opened the evening. He
performed his Domov Můj show, among which were
guitar versions of T. G. Masaryk’s favorite songs but also
commercially-loved Hašlerky. His act came to a close
with his own fantastic take on the Czech and Slovakian
national anthems. Jan-Matěj Rak performed after him,
playing famous songs from Jaroslav Ježek and Leopold
Korbař.
The true night of the First Republic was not only
a musical showcase, however, we also filled the
program with interesting intermission acts. One that is
exceptionally mention-worthy was the light art show
of Lukáš Krč, from the Alex Dowis atelier, in which he
portrayed some of the biggest milestones in the history
of Czechoslovakia.
The atmosphere of the era of the First Republic was
also enhanced by historical cars. The ladies and
gentlemen of the Czech Velocipedist club in Hrabová
also accepted their invitation to the event. Volunteer
firefighters came dressed in uniforms resembling the
ones worn at the time of the First Republic and did
a great job entertaining the children. The stand of the
saloon Omorfi allowed female guests to receive a First
Republic hair and makeup makeover. Those interested
could also take a ride in a historical carriage through the
beautiful chateau gardens.
We would like to thank all of the wonderful artists that
performed at this event and the sponsors and partners
of the event. The main partner was the Moravian-Silesian
Region, the main marketing partner was Varoc Lighting
Systems, and other notable partners include Lenzing
Biocel Paskov, and prof. Štěpán Rak.
In order to leave Šilherřovice with a permanent mark and
memory of this anniversary for future generations, we
planted 4 small-leaved lime trees, which are so closely
connected with our country, in the chateau gardens.
