In what direction has the work of the infocentres
shifted during your time in the office?
Much of our agenda has increasingly moved online.
This can be seen, for example, in advance ticket
sales, as well as the way people get in touch with
the infocentres.
However, the visitor numbers at the individual
infocentres remain steady, which shows that
the demand for personal contact, recommendations,
and advice is still strong and remains essential for
certain groups of visitors or city residents.
The Viewing Tower at the New City Hall is one
of Ostrava’s landmarks. How much interest has
it attracted recently, and how do you see its role
in the city’s destination offering?
The Viewing Tower, together with the information
centre located there, represents an excellent starting
point for exploring Ostrava and ranks among the city’s
most visited attractions. Visitor numbers remain steady
at around 55,000 people annually, placing it among
the most frequented observation towers in the Czech
Republic.
Are you preparing any new features or themed
events for visitors in connection with the tower?
Yes, in addition to the traditional events in which
the Tower takes part, such as Ostrava Museum Night
or the New City Hall Open Day, we are also planning
to continue with the Poetic Trail and the Tower
Stair Climb. The dates have not yet been set but will
be announced on our website and social media
channels.
At the same time, we are preparing a project
to modernise the information centre beneath
the tower, which we would like to expand to ensure
greater comfort for visitors.
