The year-round concert series Musical Journeys once
again invites audiences to enjoy extraordinary musical
experiences in the unique settings of the region’s
landmarks. By the end of the year, it will offer fourteen
concerts, combining leading performers with attractive
locations and an unrepeatable atmosphere. Music will
thus resound in the Leaning Church in Karviná, at the
châteaux of Frýdek, in Nová Horka near Studénka, in the
Tatra Truck Museum in Kopřivnice, and in the newly
renovated concert hall of the Hukvaldy Court.
The programme is built on exceptional genre diversity.
Alongside classical music, it also offers jazz, stylised
folklore and crossover projects. The stage will welcome
the baroque ensemble Musica Florea, the Slovak
Chamber Orchestra, medieval chants of Hildegard
of Bingen performed by Alexandra Polarczyk, mezzo-
soprano Markéta Cukrová, and the Military Artistic
Ensemble Ondráš with a new Advent programme. Also
featured will be actor and singer Vladimír Javorský
with Marian Friedl, as well as Dan Bárta with his band
Illustratosphere.
Musical Journeys aims not only to make “high culture
accessible to the widest possible audience, but also
to revitalise architectural gems and strengthen cultural
tourism in the region. With Musical Journeys, I focus
mainly on offering weekend musical experiences
in historic landmarks. By ‘experience’ I mean everything
that can be connected with the concert – such as a special
guided tour of the château with the custodian, a glass
of excellent wine, an art exhibition or a discussion with
the performers,” says Igor Františák.
Musical Journeys proves that the Moravian-Silesian
Region is not only an industrial area, but also a place
with immense cultural potential, where music becomes
a medium of beauty, emotion and social cohesion.
