The international network of interim management
associations was established in 2020. The idea originated
from Italian interim manager Jon Selby during the COVID
period. He reached out online to other European interim
management associations and was warmly received.
Subsequently, a Memorandum of Understanding and
an Ethical Code was created. The association was initially
founded by nine members (Italy, France, Poland, Germany,
Austria, the United Kingdom, Spain, Switzerland and
Liechtenstein). In 2021, Portugal joined, and in 2022,
the Czech Republic became a member, represented
by the Czech Association of Interim Management (CAIM).
At the end of 2023, the INIMA board members agreed that
it would be inspiring to meet in person. Based on this idea,
an INIMA board meeting was organised in Soave, Italy, in
February 2024. Each association presented experiences
from their respective countries. I participated in this event
as a CAIM board member, and it was highly inspiring.
I shared the outcomes with colleagues from our member
base, and we used them for further development. We plan
to hold these in-person meetings annually. In 2025, the
meeting will take place in Cologne, and CAIM will once
again be present.
Currently, INIMA representatives meet online every
month.
Topics under discussion include:
preparing a survey and market outlook for interim
management in 2025,
developing a shared best practice manual
for European interim managers, taking into account
differences across countries,
creating a comparative analysis of the legal
environment related to interim management in
various countries,
ensuring the possibility of establishing unified
European insurance for international interim
managers.
Members of national associations can also contribute
articles to the INIMA web blog, which are of interest to
the interim management community. A current topic is
the experience of international interim projectswhat
challenges the interim manager faced and how successfully
he completed the project.
International sharing among associations is highly valuable
not only for interim managers but also for business owners
who want to leverage this form of collaboration to address
situations within their companies.
