What led you to dedicate yourself
to photography and graphic design?
What has been your career path to your
current role as Art Director?
If someone had told me a few years
ago where I would be working today,
I probably wouldn’t have believed it. My
journey to Canva has taken me through
various fields, but looking back, all my
experiences have prepared me for
the work I do now. During university,
I discovered my passion for creativity
while working at Nestlé Nespresso in
Prague. After returning home, I continued
with marketing projects, but it was
during a vacation in Hawaii that I realised
I wanted to pursue something that would
bring joy to people. Upon returning, my
husband and I opened a flower shop,
allowing me to express my creativity—
from photography to marketing and store
management.
In 2022, we decided to close the flower
shop, and I began considering my
next steps. When I came across a job
advertisement for Canva, I didn’t
hesitate. I had already been using Canva
for six years, and it felt like a dream job
where I could apply my eye for visuals
and international perspective. I started
as a creative producer, organising photo
shoots remotely around the world, and
gradually began creating creative briefs.
When the opportunity arose to focus
fully on art direction this year, I jumped
at the chance.
Throughout your career, you’ve faced
various challenges. Can you share one
of the most difficult situations you
encountered and how you managed it?
One of the hardest challenges was
the decision to close our flower shop.
