BUSINESS From Ostrava To Central Europe CEO Ivo Popardowski founded ABAS IPS Management in 1992. The company boasts a dominant position mostly in physical security, detective service, and facility management. Considerably important is also the sphere of security techniques and technology services as recent innovations allow and support an increasing volume of contracts. You established a company in Ostrava: how did you succeed in making it an enterprise of Central European impact and importance? The most important thing is to move from home and search for opportunities in Prague and abroad. Právě z tohoto důvodu zde máme umístěné vedení Moravskoslezského regionu, technologického odboru a rovněž celé oddělení mzdové a finanční účtárny, ekonomiky a analytik. Které místo je v kraji Vaše oblíbené, a jak často se zde vracíte? Těch oblíbených míst bude rozhodně více. Ostravu znám velmi dobře, prošel jsem ji mnoha směry. Na mnoho míst mám velmi milé vzpomínky. Mám rád lyžování v Ramzové, Beskydy, Lysou horu, golf v Šilheřovickém parku, Černou louku, večerní „Stodolní“ i celé okolí, ale i Ostravu-Hrabůvku, odkud pocházím. You operate in the security of property and people. What is the importance of modern technologies and innovation in this field? They are absolutely crucial these days. Automated reception desks, robotization, remote supervision, intelligent camcorder systems, smart software with recognition functions and many other devices are replacing human labour with its increasing costs, and making up for insufficient labour power. What is the role of social responsibility in your enterprise not only in our region? We employ thousands of people in four countries, so we are responsible for order, job efficiency and timely remunerations. The Moravian-Silesian Region (compared to other areas) is home to very reliable people. Reliability is the quality I highly appreciate with employees. That is why not only the offices of management in the Moravian-Silesian Region but also the technology department and all payroll, financial, economic and analytical offices are located here. What is your favourite place in our region, how often do you come back here? There are quite a few. I know Ostrava very well, I have walked it through in most directions. I have many fine memories connecting to the city. I love skiing at Ramzová, the Beskyds, Lysá Hora. I enjoy playing golf in the park of Šilheřovice; I like Černá louka, evenings in Stodolní Street and the neighbourhood as well as Ostrava–Hrabůvka, where I come from.
