If you had to describe the greatest technological
advancement you have witnessed in your career,
what would it be, and how has it changed the way
you carry out your tasks?
One of the biggest technological advancements I have
seen in firefighting is the use of drones. Of course,
there are many others, but this one impressed me the
most. For example, the South Moravian Region
has been using them for several years and they are
a tremendous help. Drones allow firefighters to map
the intervention site, such as a warehouse fire,
where the area of operation is large and complex.
Thanks to aerial views, the commander or incident
management can see the entire situation from above.
This makes it possible to divide the intervention so that
it is carried out as effectively and as safely as possible.
What would you say to current students interested
in similar professions? What is the most important
lesson you learned from school that you would
advise them to remember?
Personally, I would say that if you enjoy it, go for it.
