Do you also collaborate
on development, or do you only deliver
according to the drawings?
We do both. In most cases, however,
we prefer to collaborate on development
from the concept stage, where we can
contribute our know-how to optimise
both design and costs.
Unlike many other suppliers, we don’t
simply follow a drawing – we understand
the functional context and actively look
for optimisation potential. We assist with
material selection, design adjustments,
and production setup. As a result,
we accelerate the approval process
and increase the success rate of first
samples.
Do you use elements of artificial
intelligence and what are your plans for
the future?
Yes, we see artificial intelligence as a key factor
for future competitiveness. We already use
AI today in programming camera systems,
developing internal applications, as well as in
marketing and administration.
We plan to gradually integrate AI across
the entire organisation, including quality
assurance, logistics, and production
planning. The goal is to minimise human
intervention and move towards self-
learning processes that improve efficiency
and predictive capabilities.
You mainly manufacture for
the automotive industry. Which of your
parts end up in a car?
At our Ostrava plant, we produce
around 230 million parts annually, 90%
of which go to the automotive industry.
Practically every vehicle today contains
40 to 70 of our filters, depending on the
model.
Wherever fluids flow, filtration is needed
– and that is precisely our domain.
As a group, Weppler supplies almost
1 billion filters worldwide each year.
Do the requirements of companies from
Europe, America or Japan differ?
Yes, they differ mainly in terms of quality
and logistics. Development requirements
are essentially similar. Our advantage
is that we have hands-on experience with
all three markets and can adapt both
processes and communication to the
expectations of each culture.
How does the first contact with
a customer usually work and what
should a new customer know?
Customers approach us at various stages
of a project – from the very first idea
through to series production, or even
with the relocation of tools from another
supplier.
Ideally, we should be involved as early
as possible. We can help with part
design, material selection, mould design
and automation. A new customer should
know that we are not just looking for
a single order, but for a long-term partner
with whom we can build a relationship
based on trust, technical transparency
and collaboration.
Thank you for the interview.
