Maintenance Without Stoppages
Brish Technology
Saves Time and Costs
Ensuring cleanliness and eciency in machining is one of the key challenges of modern
manufacturing. Soluons that cut costs, minimise downme, and at the same me contribute
to sustainability are brought by the Brish brand Freddy. In the Czech market, it is exclusively
represented by BIKO, led by Zdeněk Bílek, a company specialising in industrial maintenance for
more than thirty years.
Why did you decide to build your portfolio
specifically around Freddy systems?
In my view, this company is unique thanks to its
product range and, above all, its technical solutions. Its
approach to meeting the needs of businesses in this field
is comprehensive and based on global experience, ensuring
that the machines supplied bring not only savings but also
satisfaction to the workforce. Operation is very simple, while
delivering consistently high and long-term performance.
Can you give an example of when your product
saved the day?
There are many such cases. A typical example is a
machine shop that suffered from frequent, lengthy
downtimes due to clogged pumps and coolant lines.
The problem was caused by fine floating aluminium
chips in the CNC tank. Once the Freddy Ecovac with
continuous filtration was introduced, the situation
changed dramatically. The maintenance operator now
regularly filters the contents of CNC tanks without
stopping the machining process. Downtime has been
eliminated, and production now runs at full capacity.
How do BIKO and Freddy systems contribute
to ecology and sustainability?
In a fundamental wayprovided they are used regularly.
The greatest deterioration of emulsions occurs due
to the growth of bacteria. These are anaerobic,
meaning that when the emulsion is kept free of tramp
oil and properly filtered, it becomes oxygenated,
which bacteria cannot tolerate. As for cutting oils, our
systems can filter down to 5 microns and clean up to
6,000 litres in just two hours. Once the parameters are
checked, the oil can be returned to production.
How significant are the savings in coolant
and operating costs that customers can expect?
Do you have specific data?
Coolants include both water-based emulsions
and cutting oils. In both cases, we provide solutions
that significantly extend their service life as well as the
life of cutting tools. They shorten maintenance time
and reduce downtime. To obtain precise figures,
we recommend an on-site trial. We then process
the resulting data into a return-on-investment (ROI)
calculation. We have several case studies from different
operations where the payback period was less than six
months.
What makes your solution different from other
systems with a similar purpose?
What are you most proud of?
The technical design of Freddy is unique in the way
it generates vacuum. What is truly exceptional is the
automatic switching between suction and discharge
during the filtration process. This means the process
requires no operator intervention. For this innovation,
we were awarded the Gold Medal at MSV 2023. Freddy
A family-owned company operang on the Czech market
since 1994, guided by the moo: We keep the industrial
environment clean, healthy, and safe in the long term.
Its mission is to provide comprehensive services tailored
to the customersneeds in the eld of coolant maintenance.
To this end, it designs customised soluons for each
operaon and primarily uses the porolio of the Brish
machine manufacturer Freddy, whose representave
on the Czech market has been since 2006.
