Kniha s vyzývavým titulem „Podnikatelka nebo Popelka?“
vás na více než 200 stranách poutavého textu seznámí
s osudy šestnácti žen, které měly odvahu vymanit se z řetě-
zů tehdejší doby a rozhodly se zrealizovat své sny.
Kniha nabízí nejen světově známá jména – například
Madame Tussaud, Coco Chanel nebo Miuccia Prada, ale
i takové, které byly v toku času málem zapomenuty. Těšit se
tak můžete na Beate Uhse, zakladatelku prvního sex shopu
na světě nebo Estée Lauder, jejíž citát: „Nedostala jsem se
tam díky tomu, že bych po tom toužila nebo v to doufala,
ale díky tomu, že jsem na tom pracovala“, má autorka ve-
lice ráda.
Atraktivnost knihy jde ale mnohem hlouběji. Profesorka
Geršlová totiž přichází s prameny z německé literatury,
které v českých zemích nejsou dostupné, čímž se, pro val-
nou většinu čtenářů, stává její dílo opravdovým unikátem.

who have nearly been lost to the annals of time. You will
love the profi les of Beate Uhse, the founder of the fi rst sex
shop in the world, or Estée Lauder, whose quote, “I didn‘t
get there by wishing for it or hoping for it, but by working
for it,” is a favorite which the author ascribes to in her own
life.
The book is attractive for another reason: Professor Geršlová
used some resources from German literature not available
in the Czech Republic, which makes her work truly unique.
