The first projects are already underway. In September,
the Moravian–Silesian Region launched a pilot net-
work for the internet of things, which is being provided
to entrepreneurs free of charge. Sensors to measure
weather and indoor conditions (movement sensors,
water flow rate sensors, etc.) are the first devices to
be connected. The Data Analytics Centre was also
launched. A team of experts operating at the centre
uses the VŠB-TUO supercomputer, especially to pro-
cess transport data.
The region is very active in transport. Laser measure-
ment of asphalt layers on roads has been completed to
check that the region is not being cheated by its contrac-
tors during repairs. The region plans to focus on build-
ing a network of charging stations and rapid charging
stations for electric cars and bikes in the near future.
“We would also like to have at least two hydrogen
fuelling stations in the region by 2020,” said Jakub
Unucka enthusiastically.
The region organised a competition for the best
smart solutions to demonstrate to its residents that
smart technologies can be put into practice very
quickly. Mobile telemedicine terminals are a great
example of this, as they are set to eliminate many prob-
lems and deliver greater convenience for physicians
and clients of social facilities.
