open a new workplace of collaborative
robotics in cooperation with the Moravian-
Silesian Automobile Cluster and other
important partners in summer 2018, the
aim of which would be to offer testing faci-
lities to companies involved in the integra-
tion of collaborative robots in production
lines, in the development of their speci-
fic functions and their interactions with
humans. Other initiatives that the MSIC
plans to develop, together with strategic
partners, include the establishment of the
Open Innovation Lab, a common environ-
ment for business plan verification. This
will involve creating a network of experts
from various fields who would actively par-
ticipate in the implementation or valida-
tion of company change projects.
Short history, positive results
Despite its short existence, the MSIC has
implemented several important initiatives
to cultivate the business environment in
the region. These include, in particular,
a cooperation with non-profit organiza-
tions aiming at improving internal com-
pany culture, which positively contributes
to better business performance. Another
important step has been the establishment
of a connection with technologically pro-
gressive companies with bold innovation
ambitions that motivate other, less bold,
less progressive companies to take action.
The MSIC puts emphasis on cooperation
and partnership. Precise role definition
and synergy between partners have a posi-
tive impact on the final outcome. A new
initiative, “Start–Up Community”, was also
based on this principle. Its aim is to lift the
Moravian-Silesian Region from the last
position among regions in the Czech Re-
public in terms of entrepreneurial intensity,
and to link services of a number of small,
ambitious organisations within a coordi-
nated system, providing quality services to
budding entrepreneurs. An example might
be cooperating to find suitable mentors
within the Green Light Accelerator project,
or to create service signposts providing
comprehensive and easy-to-read informa-
tion to entrepreneurs.
The plan for 2018 is clear to keep up
the pace that the MSIC set at the very
beginning of its existence: well-established
cooperation with shareholders and deep-
ening cooperation with companies within
projects that improve the environment for
business and innovation in the region.
Regional Innovation Strategy for the
Moravian-Silesian Region (RIS MSK)

Silesian Region ultimately aimed at in-
creasing the competitiveness of the whole
region. The Coordinating Body of the
Regional Innovation Strategy is the Inno-
vation Council, which brings tgether the

resentatives and managers of success-
ful companies. The Innovation Council
