A Picnic by the Pond. A Pianist Just for the Two of You Individuality in the Heart of the Beskydy Mo
Čeladná, at the end of the village, beneath Smrk. Hotel & Garden U Holubů is hidden away in the Beskydy forests, with fifteen rooms, each slightly different. It is a place people come to for weddings, corporate gatherings, or simply to unwind. What is behind it?
There are hotels where you arrive, the receptionist hands you a key, points you towards the lift and says goodbye with wishes for a pleasant stay. At Hotel & Garden U Holubů, it works differently. You will usually be welcomed by the owner or his wife. They ask what expectations you are arriving with, what you enjoy, what activities you would like to do, and if you do not know the local mountains, they will advise you on where to go. In the evening, he may even invite you for a glass from a selection of wines he has personally chosen.
“We want to offer a more personal approach, whether it is weddings, corporate events or stays. We welcome guests, guide them through their visit and look after them ourselves,” says Zbyněk Barnet. He and his wife have been running the resort for almost thirty years.
“We pride ourselves on being a small hotel with personal care, and we want to offer and continue developing unusual tailor-made packages. To know what guests enjoy. To advise them. To arrange a picnic by the pond, to bring in a pianist for a romantic dinner for two.” And that is exactly what they offer here: a picnic basket full of gastronomic surprises, breakfast on the grass, wine chosen with a story behind it, a wedding for four people prepared just as carefully as one for a hundred.
There are fifteen rooms, and no two are the same. The interiors were designed by the couple themselves. Each space has its own character, and the restaurant areas with the gastro zone can be connected in various ways – or, on the contrary, separated to give an event its privacy. On top of that, there is a private wellness area with a peaceful setting for guests who have truly come to relax.
A major feature is the glazed meeting room. Open on three sides to the garden and the Beskydy hills, it serves not only for corporate gatherings, but also for experience-led breakfasts where time seems to slow down. Companies hold training sessions, workshops and strategy meetings here. For smaller teams, it accommodates up to twenty-five participants, while larger groups can use the hall with a capacity of up to eighty people. The owner had had the idea for the meeting room in mind for a long time and brought it to life together with architect Kamil Mrva. Two years ago, the building was nominated for the Building of the Year of the Moravian-Silesian Region award and received an honourable mention in the category of civic amenity buildings.
The restaurant, however, is by no means overshadowed. It works with seasonal ingredients, the wines are carefully selected, and the kitchen has earned its own awards. Vegetables come from an organic farm, and in the future they plan to source all meat exclusively from certified breeders.
Behind the hotel lies a garden, a clay sports court and a small pool, with the peaks of the Beskydy Mountains rising beyond them. What awaits you is genuine peace with no neighbours, just birds and a terrace with a view.
U Holubů is a family business in both senses of the word: in what it is, and in how it makes you feel. The owners want to create an oasis of peace, relaxation and genuine luxury here. A place people are happy to return to.
