  EDITORIAL

  Stovka let. Takové jubileum, to už je pořádný důvod

  k oslavě a gratulaci. Celou stoletou historii vítkovic-

  kého tenisu a jeho klubu zachycují dnes už trochu

  vybledlé vzpomínkové fotografie v uchovaných kroni-

  kách. V průběhu 100 let existence klubu zde vyrostla,

  trénovala a připravovala se řada vynikajících tenistů,

  a pořádaly se tu prestižní tenisové turnaje. V porevo-

  luční novodobé historii zde trénovali nebo relaxovali

  i hráči a hráčky světového formátu. Z mnohých z nich

  se staly tenisové legendy. V roce 2020 se areál stal tré-

  ninkovým zázemím pro nejlepší světové hráčky v rámci

  mezinárodního turnaje ženské tenisové asociace WTA,

  který proběhl v sousední Ostravar Aréně. Z bohaté his-

  torie dnes čerpá sportovní klub SK VÍTKOVICE 1926

  – Ridera, z.s., který se zaměřuje především na výcho-

  vu a rozvoj mladých tenisových talentů a organizaci

  turnajů.

  Kdyby zakladatelé tenisového klubu SK Vítkovice 1926

  měli tu možnost porovnat tehdejší původní podobu

  svého areálu s moderní současností, asi by nevěřili

  svým očím. V současnosti klub funguje v rámci sportov-

  ního areálu Ridera Sport. Nový moderní multifunkční

  sportovně-společenský komplex nabízí a poskytuje ši-

  roké možnosti nejen pro sport a relax, ale i pro kulturní,

  volnočasové a rekreační aktivity či společenská, firem-

  ní nebo rodinná setkání. Jeho univerzálnost a flexibilita

  spojená s příslušným servisem umožňují nabídnout

  kvalitní zázemí všem věkovým skupinám a propojit tak

  sport a pohybové aktivity s komunitním životem i zá-

  bavou. Výhodou areálu je jeho umístění v sousedství

  městského atletického a fotbalového stadionu, snadná

  dopravní dostupnost a dostatečné parkovací možnosti

  přímo u areálu.

  Přeji vítkovickému tenisu k jeho stému jubileu stále

  neutuchající elán a drajv do jeho dalších let. Nechť se

  mu i nadále daří motivovat k tomuto sportu co nejvíce

  mladých, ale i těch dříve narozených. Multifunkčnímu

  společenskému areálu Ridera Sport přeji, aby byl nadá-

  le moderním prostorem, který slouží nejen široké škále

  sportovních aktivit, ale i společenským událostem. Ať

  svou nabídkou přitahuje k pohybu i setkávání co nejví-

  ce zájemců napříč všemi generacemi.

  A century- this type of milestone is truly a reason

  to celebrate and congratulations. The entire hundred-

  year history of Vítkovice tennis and its club is captured

  in now slightly faded commemorative photographs

  preserved in chronicles. Over the course of its 100-

  year existence, many outstanding tennis players trained

  and developed here, and the club hosted numerous

  prestigious tennis tournaments. In its more recent post-

  revolution era, world-class male and female players

  came to train or unwind here – many of whom have

  since become tennis legends. In 2020, the venue served

  as a training facility for the world’s top female players

  during the international WTA tournament held at the

  neighbouring Ostravar Arena. Today, the rich heritage

  continues through the sports club SK VÍTKOVICE 1926

  – Ridera, z.s., which focuses primarily on nurturing

  and developing young tennis talents and organising

  tournaments.

  If the founders of the SK Vítkovice 1926 tennis club

  had the chance to compare the original form of their

  grounds with how it looks today, they would hardly

  believe their eyes. Today, the club operates within

  the Ridera Sport complex – a modern, multifunctional

  sports and social facility that offers a wide range

  of options not only for sport and relaxation, but also

  for cultural, leisure, and recreational activities, as well

  as social, corporate or family gatherings. Its versatility

  and flexibility, combined with a full range of services,

  provide quality facilities for all age groups, seamlessly

  blending sports and physical activities with community

  and entertainment. One of the complex’s key

  advantages is its location next to the city’s athletics

  and football stadium, along with excellent transport

  accessibility and ample on-site parking.

  I wish Vítkovice tennis continued enthusiasm and drive

  as it enters its next century. May it keep inspiring not

  only the younger generation but also those a little older

  to take up this wonderful sport. To the multifunctional

  Ridera Sport complex, I extend my best wishes for it to

  remain a modern venue that supports a wide spectrum

  of sporting activities, as well as social events. May

  it continue to attract people of all ages – encouraging

  both physical activity and meaningful connections

  Představte nám stručně areál Ridera Sport. Jaké

  aktivity nabízí a v čem spočívají jeho hlavní výhody?

  Ridera Sport nabízí široké spektrum sportovních a re-

  laxačních aktivit určených pro všechny věkové skupiny

  – od nejmenších dětí ve věku čtyř let až po seniory.

  Návštěvníci zde najdou tenis, badminton, beach volej-

  bal, stolní tenis, golf v zimním režimu, Jump Arénu pro

  zábavu dětí i dospělých, plavecký bazén a také rozsáh-

  lou wellness zónu se saunami a masážemi.

  Areál spolupracuje s širokým spektrem organizací –

  od mateřských škol po seniorské kluby – a dokáže fle-

  xibilně přizpůsobit program konkrétní skupině návštěv-

  níků. Nabídka aktivit je rozmanitá a cenová politika

  vstřícná vůči všem cílovým skupinám.

  Jednou z hlavních výhod Ridera Sport je strategická

  poloha. V těsné blízkosti se nachází čtyřhvězdičkový

  hotel i profesionální atletický stadion, což z něj činí ide-

  ální místo pro organizaci sportovních kempů, turnajů

  i firemních akcí. Lokalita je natolik atraktivní, že ji využil

  i tenisový okruh WTA – na dvorcích trénovaly světové

  hráčky jako Iga Świątek, Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff,

  Emma Raducanu, Bianca Andreescu, a z českých teni-

  stek Barbora Krejčíková, Karolína Muchová či Karolína

  Plíšková. V areálu se tak představily i hráčky, které

  v různých obdobích vedly světový žebříček WTA.

  Přístupnost areálu rovněž usnadňují zastávky tramvají

  i autobusů hned před areálem, a návštěvníci velmi oce-

  ňují velkokapacitní parkoviště přímo u vstupu, umož-

  ňující pohodlný příjezd bez stresu z hledání místa.

  Areál označujete jako sportovně-kulturní. Jaké

  prostory nabízíte pro společenské a firemní akce?

  Co všechno zajišťujete?

  Areál nabízí jak venkovní, tak vnitřní prostory pro různé

  společenské akce. Venku máme „náměstíčko“ s pódiem,

  ideální pro koncerty, vystoupení nebo jiné kulturní akce

  pro 200 lidí. Výhodou je jeho poloha mimo obytnou

  zónu, takže akce neomezují hluková pravidla. Pro vnitřní

  akce využíváme sportovní halu, kde jsme už uspořádali

  oslavy s pódiem, osvětlením, tancem i občerstvením.

  Firmám nabízíme teambuildingy i velké eventy na míru

  – od menších sportovních turnajů až po celodenní pro-

  gramy pro více než 600 osob. Díky možnosti využít

  celý areál zvládneme rozprostřít program do více zón

  a vytvořit tak zážitek přesně podle potřeb klienta.

  Zajišťujeme kompletní servis od A do Z – sportovní

  program, catering, technické zázemí (ozvučení, osvět-

  lení, mobiliář), výzdobu i obsluhu. Spolupracujeme

  s profesionální cateringovou firmou a máme i vlastní

  kavárnu, takže zvládneme připravit jak jednoduché

  občerstvení, tak slavnostní menu.

  Díky tomu, že vše organizujeme interně, je celý proces

  Jaké akce a programy nabízíte pro

  rodiny s děti, školy a školky?

  Mezi oblíbené aktivity pro rodiny s dětmi

  se řadí tenisové a badmintonové školič-

  ky, velmi oblíbená je Jump Aréna, bazén

  i relaxační zóny. Děti ze školek k nám pra-

  videlně dochází na výuku tenisu v rámci

  školního programu. Pořádáme především

  tzv. situované akce – tedy turnaje v jed-

  notlivých sportech. Letos jsme například

  zorganizovali sportovní dny pro školy, kdy

  přijely celé třídy a my jsme jim připravili

  kompletní dopolední program. Děti si vy-

  zkoušely tenis, badminton, golf, pohybové

  aktivity, Jump Arénu i bazén. Takové spo-

  jení sportu a výchovy je podle nás klíčové.

  Kdo vyučuje ve vašem areálu? Jde

  o profesionální trenéry, jaké jsou

  jejich zkušenosti a sledujete nové

  trendy v oblasti sportovního tréninku

  a vzdělávání?

  Všechny naše sportovní aktivity vedou

  certifikovaní trenéři s bohatými zkušenost-

  mi. Jsou mezi nimi i bývalí reprezentanti,

  kteří působili v zahraničí, například v Itálii

  či Irsku. Mají přísně profesionální přístup,

  přenášejí sem zkušenosti ze špičkových

  sportovních center a neustále se vzdělá-

  vají podle nejnovějších trendů v oboru.

  Věříme, že bez neustálého zlepšování

  a aktualizace znalostí dnes v oblasti spor-

  tu nelze uspět.

  Velkým přínosem bude Petr Korbel, ikona

  českého stolního tenisu a pětinásobný

  účastník olympijských her. V areálu bude

  mít své zázemí a intenzivně se bude věno-

  vat tréninku mládeže.

  Vnímáte svou práci v oblasti sportu jako

  koníček? Jaká je vaše osobní sportovní

  historie a jak jste se dostal k trénování?

  Jednoznačně ano – sport je mou celoživotní

  vášní. Ačkoli mám technické vzdělání, spor-

  tovní prostředí je pro mě domovem. Práce

  s lidmi v této oblasti mě naplňuje a jsem rád,

  že mohu spojit profesní život s tím, co mám

  rád. Od dětství jsem se věnoval mnoha spor-

  tům, nejvíce tenisu a fotbalu. V tenise jsem

  se dostal až do extraligy a první ligy, hrál

  jsem i v Německu ve druhé nejvyšší soutě-

  ži. Trenérskou dráhu jsem zahájil ve dvaceti

  letech. Dnes vedu školení trenérů třetí třídy

  na Severní Moravě, stále se vzdělávám a na-

  víc i vyrábím tréninkové pomůcky. V Ridera

  Sport si navzájem předáváme zkušenosti –

  každý nový poznatek ihned zkoušíme v praxi.

  Sport zůstává mým koníčkem i přirozeným

  prostředím. Těší mě, že mohu své znalosti

  posouvat dál – mezi hráče i kolegy. V rámci

  areálu pořádáme i akce pro hobby hráče,

  kde si lidé nejen zatrénují, ale často i najdou

  nové sportovní parťáky. Právě ta přátelská

  a otevřená atmosféra je podle mě největší

  hodnotou, kterou nabízíme.

  Věnujete se také golfu – jaké možnosti

  u vás hráči najdou a spolupracujete

  s golfovými kluby?

  Ridera Sport nabízí špičkové indoor zá-

  zemí pro golf – simulátor s více než 180

  světovými hřišti, driving range se šesti

  odpališti a putting plochu pro dva hráče.

  Využívají ho mládežnické týmy, profesi-

  onálové i nezávislí trenéři, především bě-

  hem zimy.

  Golfová sekce vznikla ve spolupráci s klu-

  by ze Šilheřovic, Kravař, Ostravice a Golf

  Parku Lhotka. Roste také zájem ze zahrani-

  čí, zejména z Polska.

  Výhodou je komplexnost – návštěvníci

  mohou spojit golf s kondiční přípravou,

  wellness i posezením v kavárně. Areál hostí

  i čtyři veřejné turnaje ročně, které plánuje-

  me rozšířit do podoby vlastní golfové túry.

  Pro firmy a partnery nabízíme zvýhodněné

  členské programy.

  Plánujete do budoucna nějaká rozšíření

  nebo novinky v areálu?

  Ano, aktuálně zvažujeme výstavbu pa-

  delových kurtů, protože padel je čím

  dál populárnější míčový sport a chce-

  me na tento trend reagovat. Uvažujeme

  o třech kurtech v zadní části areálu

  s částečným zastřešením. Jednáme i o

  vybudování profesionálního raketového

  centra, které by spojovalo tenis, badmin-

  ton, stolní tenis a zmiňovaný padel. Také

  plánujeme lepší zabezpečení venkovních

  prostor pro celoroční využití a větší akce

  i v zimě.

  Naším cílem je vytvořit z Ridera Sport

  komunitní centrum, které nabídne kvalitní

  sportovní i společenské zázemí pro všech-

  ny generace – od dětí po seniory. Klíčová

  zůstává komplexnost služeb na jednom

  místě, což je základ pro další rozvoj.

  Jak fungují vaše školičky a jak se do nich

  mohou děti přihlásit?

  Děti přijímáme celoročně a mohou kdykoli

  dorazit na úvodní zkušební lekci zdarma.

  Pokud chtějí pokračovat, automaticky se

  stávají členy klubu se všemi výhodami.

  Vybavení zapůjčíme, není nutné mít vlastní.

  V areálu působí Národní tenisová akade-

  mie a Tréninkové středisko mládeže, které

  kromě kempů pořádají i setkání s býva-

  lými profesionály – v minulosti například

  s Ivanem Lendlem. Takové akce mají pro

  děti velkou motivační sílu, a chceme je

  do budoucna ještě rozšířit.

  Jaké výhody nabízí

  váš věrnostní program?

  Naše členská karta poskytuje 15% slevu

  na všechny služby v areálu a bezplatné

  parkování. Navíc připravujeme i speciální

  sezónní nabídky, jako byla např. 50% sle-

  va na masáže a wellness během zimních

  měsíců. Tyto výhody vychází často z přímé

  komunikace s klienty.

  Máte pro nás oblíbenou aktivitu nebo

  „tajný tip“ z areálu, který často překvapí

  i pravidelné návštěvníky?

  Rozhodně náš wellness. Nabízí klidné, ko-

  morní prostředí pro jednotlivce i páry, což

  návštěvníky často mile překvapí. Výhodou

  je pohodlné propojení se sportovišti, šat-

  nami i kavárnou – vše máte doslova pár

  kroků od sebe.

  Nabízíme také masáže, tejpování a SM

  cvičení s fyzioterapeutkou, ideální pro ty,

  kdo trpí bolestmi zad nebo mají sedavé

  zaměstnání. Občas pořádáme i worksho-

  py a přednášky, například s mentálními

  kouči jako Marian Jelínek, což přináší další

  rozměr péče o tělo i mysl.

  Na co by podle vás letos rozhodně

  Doporučuji sledovat program akcí – bě-

  hem roku pořádáme sportovní turnaje,

  společenské akce i speciální eventy jako

  turnaj při Zlaté tretře Ostrava. Nabídku

  stále rozšiřujeme, aby si každý našel

  to své.

  Za návštěvu stojí i extraligové zápasy

  v badmintonu a stolním tenisu nebo mlá-

  dežnické turnaje, které přinášejí skvělou

  atmosféru a energii mladých talentů.

  Could you briefly introduce the Ridera

  Sport complex? What activities

  does it offer and what are its main

  Ridera Sport offers a wide range of sporting

  and leisure activities for all age groups – from

  children as young as four to senior citizens.

  Visitors can enjoy tennis, badminton,

  beach volleyball, table tennis, indoor golf

  during the winter season, the Jump Arena

  for both children and adults, a swimming

  pool, and a large wellness zone featuring

  saunas and massage services.

  The complex works with a broad spectrum

  of organisations – from kindergartens

  to senior clubs – and can flexibly tailor

  programmes to suit the specific needs

  of each group. The range of activities

  is diverse, and the pricing policy

  is accommodating to all target groups.

  One of Ridera Sport’s main advantages

  You describe Ridera Sport as a sports

  and cultural venue. What facilities

  do you offer for social and corporate

  The complex offers both outdoor

  and indoor spaces for a variety of social

  events. Outside, we have a small

  square with a stage, ideal for concerts,

  performances or other cultural events

  for up to 200 people. A major advantage

  is its location outside a residential area,

  meaning noise restrictions don’t apply.

  For indoor events, we use our sports hall,

  where we’ve hosted celebrations with

  a stage, lighting, dancing, and catering.

  We offer companies tailored team

  building events and large-scale functions

  – from small sports tournaments to full-

  day programmes for over 600 people.

  With access to the entire venue, we’re

  able to divide activities across multiple

  zones and create an experience that

  perfectly fits the client’s needs.

  We provide a full-service package from

  A to Z – including the sports programme,

  catering, technical setup (sound, lighting,

  furniture), decorations, and staffing.

  We collaborate with a professional

  catering company and also operate our

  own café, allowing us to deliver anything

  from light refreshments to festive menus.

  What events and programmes do you

  offer for families with children, schools

  and kindergartens?

  Popular activities for families with

  children include tennis and badminton

  schools, the much-loved Jump Arena,

  zones. Children from kindergartens

  regularly attend tennis lessons here as part

  of their school programme. We mainly

  organise what we call „situated events“

  – tournaments in specific sports. This

  year, for example, we hosted sports days

  for schools, welcoming entire classes

  and providing them with a full morning

  programme. The children had the chance

  to try tennis, badminton, golf, movement-

  based activities, the Jump Arena, and the

  swimming pool. We believe that this

  combination of sport and education

  is absolutely essential.

  Who teaches at your facility? Are they

  professional coaches and what are their

  qualifications? Do you follow new trends

  in sports training and education?

  All of our sports activities are led by certified

  coaches with extensive experience. Among

  them are former national team athletes

  who have trained and worked abroad,

  in countries such as Italy and Ireland. They

  maintain a highly professional approach,

  bringing expertise from top-level sports

  centres and continuously updating their

  knowledge based on the latest trends in the

  field. We firmly believe that without ongoing

  improvement and knowledge updates, it’s

  impossible to succeed in sport today.

  A major asset will be Petr Korbel, a legend

  of Czech table tennis and a five-time

  Olympian. He will have his own facilities

  within the complex and will be actively

  involved in youth training.

  Do you see your work in sport

  as a passion? What is your personal

  sporting background and how did you get

  into coaching?

  Absolutely – sport has been my lifelong

  passion. Although I have a technical

  education, the world of sport has always felt

  like home. Working with people in this field

  is deeply fulfilling, and I’m grateful to be

  able to combine my professional life with

  something I truly enjoy. Since childhood,

  I’ve been involved in many sports,

  especially tennis and football. In tennis,

  I reached the Czech Extraliga and First

  League, and I also played in Germany’s

  second-highest division. I started coaching

  at the age of twenty. Today, I lead third-

  class coaching courses in North Moravia,

  continue to educate myself, and even

  design and produce training equipment.

  At Ridera Sport, we constantly share our

  experience with one another – any new

  insight is immediately tested in practice.

  Sport remains both a passion and a natural

  environment for me. What brings

  me the most joy is being able to pass

  on my knowledge – to players as well

  as colleagues. We also organise events for

  amateur players, where people not only

  train, but often find new sports partners.

  In my opinion, it’s exactly this friendly

  and welcoming atmosphere that represents

  the greatest value we offer.

  You’re also involved in golf – what

  opportunities do you offer players and do

  you collaborate with golf clubs?

  Ridera Sport provides top-tier indoor

  golf facilities – a simulator featuring

  over 180 world-renowned courses,

  a driving range with six tees, and a putting

  green for two players. These facilities

  are used by youth teams, professionals

  and independent coaches, especially during

  the winter months.

  Our golf section was developed

  One of our key strengths is the all-in-one

  experience – visitors can combine golf

  and relaxing in our café. The venue also

  hosts four public tournaments a year, which

  we plan to expand into our own golf tour. For

  Are you planning any expansions

  or new developments at the facility

  in the future?

  Yes, we are currently considering

  the construction of padel courts, as padel

  is becoming an increasingly popular racket

  sport and we want to respond to this

  growing trend. We‘re looking at building

  three courts in the rear part of the complex,

  partially covered. We’re also in discussions

  about creating a professional racket sports

  centre that would bring together tennis,

  badminton, table tennis, and the newly

  mentioned padel.

  In addition, we’re planning to enhance

  the security of our outdoor areas to enable

  year-round use and to support hosting larger

  events even during winter.

  Our vision is to transform Ridera Sport into

  a true community hub that offers high-

  quality sporting and social facilities for all

  generations – from children to seniors.

  The key remains the comprehensive range

  of services in one place, which forms

  the foundation for further development.

  How do your sport schools operate

  and how can children enrol?

  We accept children throughout the year,

  and they’re welcome to attend an initial

  trial lesson free of charge. If they decide

  to continue, they automatically become

  club members with access to all associated

  benefits. We provide all necessary

  equipment, so there’s no need to bring

  anything of their own.

  Our facility is home to the National Tennis

  Academy and the Youth Training Centre,

  which organise not only training camps,

  but also meet-and-greet events with former

  professionals – in the past, for example,

  with Ivan Lendl. These experiences are

  highly motivating for children, and we aim

  to expand them further in the future.

  Our membership card gives holders a 15%

  discount on all services within the complex

  and free parking. In addition, we offer

  special seasonal promotions – for example,

  Definitely our wellness zone. It offers

  a calm, intimate environment for

  individuals and couples, which often comes

  A major advantage is its seamless connection

  with the sports facilities, changing rooms,

  and café – everything is literally just a few

  steps away.

  We also provide massages, kinesiology

  taping, and SM system exercises with

  expanding the programme to ensure that

  there’s something for everyone.

  It’s also well worth attending Extraliga

  matches in badminton and table tennis,

  as well as youth tournaments that bring

  a fantastic atmosphere and the energy

  Areál Ridera Sport nabízí tenisové zázemí, které patří

  mezi nejlepší v regionu – osm venkovních antukových

  kurtů se Siberia systémem, tři kryté kurty s profesio-

  nálním povrchem, který využívají i hráčky WTA, a dva

  menší kurty s umělou trávou určené pro minitenis a vý-

  uku dětí.

  Tenisové školky přijímají děti celoročně, není třeba

  čekat na září. Na úvod mohou absolvovat zkoušku

  zdarma, během níž si vyzkouší, zda je tenis baví. Pokud

  ano, dítě se stává členem klubu a získává stejné výhody

  jako ostatní. Zapůjčení rakety a vybavení je samozřej-

  mostí – jak říká pan Klimek, některé děti hrají klidně

  rok i déle s klubovým vybavením, než dostanou vlastní.

  Rodiče si zatím mohou odpočinout v pohodlí kavárny

  přímo v areálu, nebo využít klidného prostředí k práci,

  zatímco se jejich děti věnují tréninku.

  Srdcem tenisového dění je klub SK Vítkovice 1926 – Ridera,

  který letos slaví 100 let od svého založení. Klub pořádá

  tréninky, soutěže, dětské kroužky i soustředění a má

  silný trenérský tým. Unikátní atmosféru vytvářejí i se-

  tkání s legendami světového tenisu – v minulosti zde

  přivítali například Ivana Lendla. Díky této tradici a kva-

  litě se stal areál Ridera Sport jedním ze dvou míst v ČR,

  kde sídlí Národní tenisová akademie (NTA) – elitní pro-

  gram České tenisové federace pro práci s talentovaný-

  mi hráči. Získání tohoto statutu je důkazem špičkových

  podmínek, vize a odborného přístupu klubu.

  Součástí areálu je také Tréninkové centrum mládeže

  (TSM), zaměřené na rozvoj hráčů všech výkonnostních

  úrovní. Hráči zde absolvují nejen pravidelné tréninky

  a účastní se turnajů, ale klub spolupracuje i s rodiči

  a klade důraz na fair play a pozitivní vztah ke sportu.

  Tři z kurtů navíc splňují mezinárodní parametry a are-

  ál zvažuje pořádání mezinárodních turnajů mládeže,

  na které je plně technicky připraven.

  The Ridera Sport complex offers some of the finest

  tennis facilities in the region – eight outdoor clay

  courts with the Siberia system, three indoor courts

  with a professional surface also used by WTA players,

  and two smaller artificial grass courts designed for mini

  tennis and children’s lessons.

  Tennis classes for kids are open year-round – there’s

  no need to wait until September. Newcomers can try

  out a free trial lesson to see if they enjoy the sport.

  If they do, they can join the club and enjoy the same

  benefits as other members. Racquets and equipment

  are provided – as Mr Klimek notes, some kids use

  club gear for a year or more before getting their own.

  Meanwhile, parents can relax in the on-site café or take

  advantage of the peaceful surroundings to get some

  work done while their children are training.

  At the heart of the tennis scene is the club SK Vítkovice

  1926 – Ridera, which is celebrating its 100

  this year. The club organises training sessions,

  competitions, children’s programmes and training

  camps, supported by a strong team of coaches.

  A unique part of the club’s atmosphere comes from

  meetings with tennis legends – in the past, they’ve

  hosted the likes of Ivan Lendl. Thanks to this tradition

  and quality, Ridera Sport has become one of only two

  locations in the Czech Republic to host the National

  Tennis Academy (NTA) – an elite programme of the

  Czech Tennis Federation focused on nurturing

  talented players. Being awarded this status reflects

  the club’s top-tier conditions, along with their vision

  and professional approach.

  The complex also includes a Youth Training Centre

  (TSM), dedicated to developing players across all skill

  levels. Players train regularly, take part in tournaments,

  and the club maintains close cooperation with

  parents, placing strong emphasis on fair play

  and a positive attitude toward sport. Three of the

  courts meet international standards, and the venue

  is already technically prepared to host international

  Díky tomu, že se jedná o jeden z největších tenisových

  areálů, který nabízí komplexní zázemí pro pořádání

  tenisových akcí, a to celoročně, je pro nás zajímavý.

  Vztah máme na profesionální úrovni, protože kdyko-

  liv hledáme místo v jakémkoliv termínu pro jakoukoliv

  akci spojenou s tenisem, víme, že Ridera Sport nám

  vždy vyjde vstříc.

  Které konkrétní tenisové turnaje nebo akce zde svaz

  v poslední době pořádal, případně plánuje pořádat?

  V posledních letech se zde konají akce oblastního,

  celorepublikového i evropského formátu, především

  v mládežnických kategoriích.

  Jaké jsou podle vás nejdůležitější faktory při

  rozhodování o místě konání tenisových turnajů a jak

  v nich Ridera Sport obstál?

  Mezi hlavní faktory patří především zázemí, a to jak

  dostatek venkovních dvorců v létě, tak možnost halo-

  vého provozu v zimě. Areál disponuje nejmodernější

  nafukovací halou s pevným profesionálním povrchem.

  Nedílnou součástí je i kavárna a prostory pro hráče

  a jejich doprovod. Navíc se areál stále rozvíjí a buduje

  lepší zázemí.

  V čem vidíte hlavní přednosti areálu Ridera Sport

  z pohledu tenisové infrastruktury a zázemí?

  Hlavní předností je komplexnost. Tenisté zde najdou

  nejen špičkové sportovní služby, ale také mimoteniso-

  vé – například regeneraci ve wellness nebo masáže.

  Velkou výhodou je také parkování přímo u areálu s do-

  statečnou kapacitou.

  Je podle vás areál vhodný nejen pro profesionální,

  ale i mládežnické a rekreační turnaje? Jakou cílovou

  skupinu sem svaz nejčastěji směřuje?

  Určitě ano. Vždyť ho v minulých letech i letos využívaly

  hráčky okruhu WTA i reprezentantky Billie Jean King

  Cupu (BJKC, dříve Fed Cupu). Areál splňuje kritéria pro

  profesionální tenis, a tím pádem i pro všechny ostatní

  hráčské kategorie. Nejčastěji se zde však pořádají mlá-

  dežnické turnaje.

  Jakou roli hraje poloha Ostravy při výběru místa pro

  tenisové akce? Pomáhá například dostupnost pro

  polské a slovenské účastníky?

  Ano, poloha tomu velmi napomáhá. Je jednodušší najít

  areál, který je blízko dálnice a nelze ho přehlédnout.

  Využíváte areál i pro mezinárodní akce nebo

  soustředění reprezentace? Pokud ano, s jakou

  odezvou ze strany hráčů a trenérů?

  Ano, v areálu se konají akce mezinárodního charak-

  teru, jako jsou turnaje česko-polského přátelství nebo

  různé kempy. Letos areál využila i ženská reprezentace

  v rámci přípravy na BJKC. Odezva hráčů i trenérů je

  velmi pozitivní.

  Vidíte prostor pro další spolupráci s areálem Ridera

  Sport do budoucna – například v rámci větších

  tenisových projektů nebo mládežnických akademií?

  Určitě ano, areál se pro spolupráci nabízí. Akademie

  a tenisové turnaje mládeže zde plánujeme i do bu-

  doucna. Byla by chyba, kdybychom takové zázemí

  nevyužívali a nehledali cestu spolupráce.

  the complex frequently hosts both youth and professional tournaments, including internaonal

  What is the relationship between the Czech

  Tennis Association and the Ridera Sport complex

  in Ostrava? Why did you choose this venue for

  hosting tennis events?

  As one of the largest tennis complexes with

  comprehensive, year-round facilities, it is a highly

  attractive venue for us. Our relationship is on

  a professional level — whenever we’re looking for

  a venue at any time of the year for any type of tennis-

  related event, we can always rely on Ridera Sport

  to accommodate us.

  Which specific tennis tournaments or events has

  the association recently held here, or is planning

  to hold?

  In recent years, the venue has hosted events at regional,

  national, and European levels, primarily in youth

  categories.

  What do you consider the most important factors

  when deciding on a venue for tennis tournaments,

  and how does Ridera Sport measure up?

  The key factors include suitable facilities — plenty

  of outdoor courts for the summer season and indoor

  options for winter season. The complex is equipped

  with a state-of-the-art inflatable hall featuring

  a high-quality professional playing surface. A café

  and dedicated areas for players and their teams are also

  essential components. Moreover, the venue continues

  to grow and improve its infrastructure.

  What do you see as the main advantages

  of the Ridera Sport complex in terms of tennis

  infrastructure and facilities?

  The main advantage lies in its comprehensive offerings.

  Tennis players not only benefit from top-level sporting

  facilities but also from off-court amenities, including

  wellness areas and massage services for recovery.

  Another major benefit is the ample on-site parking,

  which ensures convenient access for all visitors.

  Do you think the complex is suitable not only for

  professionals but also for youth and recreational

  tournaments? Which target group does

  the association most often focus on?

  Absolutely. In fact, over the past few years and again

  this year, the facility has been used by WTA players

  and members of the Billie Jean King Cup (formerly Fed

  Cup) team. The complex meets the standards required

  for professional tennis, which naturally makes it suitable

  for all other player categories as well. However, it is

  most frequently used for youth tournaments.

  What role does Ostrava’s location play when

  choosing a venue for tennis events? For example,

  does accessibility benefit participants from Poland

  and Slovakia?

  Yes, the location plays a significant role. It’s far easier

  to choose a venue that’s conveniently situated near

  the motorway and easy to find.

  Do you use the complex for international events

  or national team training camps? If so, how have

  players and coaches responded?

  Yes, the venue hosts international events such

  as Czech–Polish friendship tournaments and various

  training camps. This year, the women’s national team

  also used the facility as part of their preparations for

  the Billie Jean King Cup. Feedback from both players

  and coaches has been very positive.

  Do you see potential for further cooperation

  with the Ridera Sport complex in the future — for

  example, through larger tennis projects

  or youth academies?

  Definitely. The venue offers great potential for

  collaboration. We plan to continue organising youth

  tournaments and academies at the complex. It would

  be a missed opportunity not to make use of such high-

  quality facilities and not to pursue further cooperation.

  významnou roli. O své zkušenos se zázemím, logiskou i reakcemi hráček mluví Tomáš Petera ze

  Jak hodnotíte spolupráci s areálem Ridera Sport

  během pořádání turnaje WTA 500 turnaje

  Ostrava Open?

  Při pořádání turnaje tak významné kategorie, jako

  je WTA 500, sehrál areál Ridera Sport klíčovou roli.

  Společně s hlavní Ostravar Arénou, přilehlou atletickou

  halou a hotelem Clarion vytvořily perfektní zázemí,

  které je svojí blízkostí a funkčností ve světě ojedinělé.

  Splňoval areál Ridera Sport po organizační,

  technické i sportovní stránce nároky na tréninkové

  zázemí během profesionálního turnaje této úrovně

  (kvalita povrchů, vybavení, provoz)?

  Areál sám o sobě je samostatnou jednotkou. Po orga-

  nizační stránce stačilo pár tzv. site visit, abychom dola-

  dili organizační detaily, aby celková spolupráce nako-

  nec proběhla hladce. Z pravidel WTA logicky plyne, že

  povrch tréninkových kurtů musí být stejný jako povrch

  na těch zápasových. Nezbylo tedy nic jiného, než po-

  užít stejnou technologii a materiál, který se používal

  na kurtech v Ostravar Aréně. Mimochodem tyto po-

  vrchy jsou v areálu stále a hrají na nich členové klubu.

  Zaznamenal jste od hráček či jejich týmů zpětnou

  vazbu ohledně podmínek pro trénink v tomto areálu?

  Pokud ano, jaká byla?

  Hráčky byly nadšené. Již zmíněná blízkost tréninkových

  kurtů je na indoorových turnajích spíše výjimečná.

  Jakou roli sehrál Ridera Sport při zajištění hladkého

  průběhu turnaje z hlediska logistiky a podpory

  hráček mimo hlavní dějiště v Ostravar Aréně?

  Personál klubu byl po celou dobu velmi vstřícný a ná-

  pomocný. Nesporně přispěl obrovskou měrou k hlad-

  kému průběhu vlastně všech tří ročníků turnaje, které

  se zde odehrály.

  Měla spolupráce s Ridera Sport vliv na hodnocení

  celého turnaje ze strany WTA?

  Samozřejmě. Tréninkové kurty jsou nedílnou součástí

  turnaje. Někdy větší, než si diváci myslí. A protože cel-

  kové hodnocení turnajů bylo kladné, je jasné, že i spo-

  lupráce s Ridera Sport byla hodnocena kladně.

  Doporučil byste Ridera Sport jako vhodné tréninkové

  nebo turnajové centrum pro další sportovní akce?

  Jednoznačně ano. Vzhledem k výše zmíněným okol-

  nostem je to jasná volba.

  The Ridera Sport complex played a crucial role during the presgious WTA 500 Ostrava Open

  tennis tournament. Tomáš Petera from Perinvest Group, one of the event’s co-organisers, shares his

  insights into the venue’s facilies, logiscs, and the players’ reacons. “The players were thrilled,”

  he says, oering a behind-the-scenes look at the collaboraon with the Ostrava sports centre, which

  contributed to the success of one of the largest tennis tournaments in the Czech Republic.

  How would you rate the cooperation with the Ridera

  Sport complex during the organisation of the WTA

  500 Ostrava Open tournament?

  The Ridera Sport complex played a key role in hosting

  an event of such magnitude as the WTA 500 category

  tournament. Together with the main Ostravar Aréna,

  the adjacent athletics hall, and the Clarion Hotel,

  it formed a perfect infrastructure that stands out

  globally for its proximity and functionality.

  Did the Ridera Sport complex meet

  the organisational, technical, and sporting

  requirements for training facilities during

  a professional tournament of this level

  (surface quality, equipment, operations)?

  The complex is a fully self-sufficient unit. From

  an organisational point of view, just a few so-called site

  visits were enough to fine-tune the details, ensuring

  smooth cooperation overall. According to WTA

  regulations, the surface of the training courts must

  match that of the match courts. So naturally, we had

  to use the same technology and materials as those

  used in the Ostravar Aréna. Incidentally, those surfaces

  remain in place at the complex and are still used

  by club members today.

  Did you receive any feedback from the players

  or their teams regarding the training conditions

  at the complex? If so, what was it?

  The players were thrilled. As previously mentioned,

  the proximity of the training courts is quite rare for

  indoor tournaments.

  What role did Ridera Sport play in ensuring

  the smooth running of the tournament in terms

  of logistics and player support outside the main

  venue at the Ostravar Aréna?

  The club’s staff were consistently accommodating

  and helpful. Without a doubt, they made a significant

  contribution to the smooth execution of all three

  editions of the tournaments held here.

  Did the cooperation with Ridera Sport influence

  the overall evaluation of the tournament by the

  WTA?

  Absolutely. Training courts are an integral part of any

  tournament—sometimes more so than spectators

  might realise. And since the overall evaluation of the

  tournament was positive, it’s clear that the cooperation

  with Ridera Sport was viewed positively as well.

  Would you recommend Ridera Sport as a suitable

  training or tournament centre for future sporting

  events?

  Definitely yes. Given all the points mentioned above,

  it’s an obvious choice.

  pem do bazénu. Krytý bazén o rozměrech 8×4 metry

  s teplotou vody 30 °C je ideální pro lehké plavání, rege-

  neraci i rodinný odpočinek.

  K dispozici jsou také profesionální masáže – od klasic-

  ké a sportovní po thajskou, baňkování nebo masáž lá-

  vovými kameny. Masáže podporují regeneraci, pomá-

  hají odbourávat stres a přispívají k celkové rovnováze

  těla i mysli.

  all players will appreciate. The hall has a 10-metre

  ceiling meeting international standards, ensuring

  a comfortable playing experience with no limitations.

  The hall is used not only for standard bookings

  but also for amateur tournaments such as Ridera Open

  and Ridera Master, organised in cooperation with

  the B.O. Chance extraleague team. These tournaments

  feature both singles and doubles and are open to the

  general public.

  The complex includes a peaceful wellness zone

  featuring a whirlpool, Finnish and steam saunas, a cold-

  water bucket shower and access to the pool. The indoor

  pool measures 8×4 metres and is kept at 30°C – ideal

  for light swimming, recovery or family relaxation.

  Professional massages are also available – from classic

  and sports massages to Thai, cupping or hot stone

  therapy. These treatments support regeneration,

  reduce stress and contribute to overall physical

  and mental balance.

  Badmintonový klub B.O. Chance Ostrava našel v areálu Ridera Sport v Ostravě nejen domovské

  kurty, ale i ideální podmínky pro extraligové soutěže a pořádání špičkových turnajů. Předseda oddílu

  a vedoucí družstev dospělých Marek Švábík v rozhovoru popisuje, proč je spolupráce pro klub

  klíčová a co stálo za úspěchem květnového nálového turnaje extraligy.

  Jak dlouho využíváte areál Ridera Sport pro činnost

  vašeho badmintonového klubu?

  Náš klub vznikl v roce 2017 a od té doby máme v hale

  své pevné místo – hned od začátku jsme tady skoro

  doma a postupně jsme si tu vybudovali velmi příjemné

  a stabilní zázemí.

  Vyhovuje areál nárokům extraligového družstva –

  zejména z hlediska sportovního zázemí, technických

  podmínek a organizace zápasů?

  Naprostá spokojenost. Strop ve výšce podle meziná-

  rodních standardů, profi koberce s certifikací, skvělé

  osvětlení i zázemí – co víc si přát. Navíc celý tým v hale

  nám vždy vyjde vstříc, což dělá z tohoto místa ideální

  prostředí pro nás a extraligový badminton.

  V květnu 2025 jste uspořádali Final Four

  badmintonové extraligy právě v hale Ridera Sport.

  Co rozhodlo o volbě tohoto areálu jako dějiště takto

  významné sportovní události?

  Upřímně? Byla to jasná volba. Spolupráce funguje

  dlouhodobě skvěle, podmínky jsou perfektní a víme,

  že se na tohle místo a lidi můžeme spolehnout. Takže

  nebylo moc co řešit.

  Finálový turnaj měl mimořádně bohatý doprovodný

  program – 3D videomapping, nástup týmů, VIP

  zázemí aj. Jak vám v tomto směru Ridera Sport vyšel

  vstříc po organizační stránce?

  Tady musíme smeknout. Měli jsme k dispozici celý are-

  ál, a ještě nám pomohli s technickým vybavením – LED

  obrazovka, ozvučení, tribuny, židle, stoly… prostě vše,

  co jsme potřebovali. Bez jejich pomoci bychom z toho

  takový turnaj a malou show určitě neudělali.

  Jaké ohlasy jste zaznamenali od hráčů,

  fanoušků, oficiálních hostů či zástupců Českého

  badmintonového svazu na samotný areál i atmosféru

  během turnaje?

  Reakce se poslouchaly jedna radost. Řada hráčů,

  ale dokonce i rozhodčí, říkala, že to bylo nejlepší

  Final Four, které kdy zažili, někteří diváci byli poprvé

  na badmintonu a odcházeli nadšeni – a to nás samo-

  zřejmě potěšilo nejvíc. Když to pochválí jak samotní

  hráči, tak fanoušci, víme, že jsme to nedělali zbytečně.

  Bylo něco, co vás osobně nebo celý klub během

  příprav či samotného turnaje v Ridera Sport

  příjemně překvapilo?

  Rozhodně! Skvělá pomoc dorazila z týmu okolo pana

  Libora Uhra z WOODARÉNY Ostravice – nezištně

  a s nasazením nám pomohli a jejich přístup byl oprav-

  du výjimečný. A pak samozřejmě naši mladí, rodiče,

  hráči… spousta obětavých rukou. Dík letí ke všem!

  Jak hodnotíte komunikaci s týmem Ridera Sport při

  plánování a realizaci klubových akcí?

  Tady není co vytknout – domluva rychlá, přehledná,

  lidská. Všechno šlape tak, jak má. Spolupráci si fakt

  pochvalujeme.

  Využívají členové klubu v areálu i další služby mimo

  kurt, jako je například regenerace nebo posilovna?

  Jasně! Regenerace, posilovna, a často i prostor na in-

  dividuální přípravu – členové tohle všechno využívají

  naplno. A když se něco hodí mimo trénink, taky víme,

  že se máme kam i na koho obrátit.

  V čem vidíte hlavní přínos spolupráce vašeho

  klubu s Ridera Sport? Je něco, co byste označil za

  nadstandardní?

  Už jsme toho řekli dost, ale zopakujeme rádi: tohle je

  spolupráce, která běží výborně. Zázemí, podpora, pří-

  stup lidí – všechno funguje nadstandardně. Jsme moc

  rádi, že to tak je.

  Doporučil byste areál i dalším sportovním oddílům

  jako stabilní zázemí pro soutěžní i tréninkovou

  činnost?

  Bez váhání ano. Ale popravdě – trochu doufáme, že

  zůstaneme i nadále jedním z hlavních partnerů a že

  nám tohle parádní zázemí ještě dlouho vydrží.

  When the Hall Breathes with Us

  The badminton club B.O. Chance Ostrava has found not only its home court, but also ideal condions

  for top-level compeons and tournaments at the Ridera Sport complex in Ostrava. In this interview,

  club chairman and head of adult teams, Marek Švábík, explains why this partnership is crucial for

  the club and what contributed to the success of the Extraliga nal tournament held in May.

  How long have you been using

  the Ridera Sport complex for your

  badminton club activities?

  Our club was founded in 2017, and we‘ve

  had a firm base in the hall ever since.

  From the very beginning, it has felt like

  home and over time we‘ve built a very

  comfortable and stable environment here.

  Does the venue meet the demands of an

  Extraliga team – especially in terms

  of sports facilities, technical standards

  and match organisation?

  Absolutely. The ceiling height meets

  international standards, the professional

  carpets are certified, the lighting

  and facilities are excellent – what more

  could you ask for? In addition, the entire

  team at the venue is always helpful, which

  makes this the perfect place for us and for

  Extraliga badminton.

  In May 2025, you hosted the Final Four

  of the Badminton Extraliga at the Ridera

  Sport hall. What led you to choose this

  venue for such a major sporting event?

  Honestly? It was an obvious choice. Our

  cooperation has worked brilliantly for

  a long time. The conditions are excellent,

  and we know we can rely on both

  the place and the people here. So there

  really wasn’t much to think about.

  The final tournament featured

  an exceptionally rich accompanying

  programme offering 3D video mapping,

  team entrances, VIP facilities and more.

  How did Ridera Sport support you

  in terms of organisation?

  We really have to take our hats off. We had

  access to the entire venue, and they

  even helped us with all the technical

  equipment such as LED screens, sound

  system, stands, chairs, tables, everything

  that we needed. Without their help,

  we couldn’t have turned it into such

  a tournament and adding a bit of a show.

  What kind of feedback did you receive

  from players, fans, official guests,

  or representatives of the Czech

  Badminton Federation regarding

  the venue and the atmosphere during

  the tournament?

  The positive feedback was truly a joy

  to hear. Some players, as well as referees,

  said it was the best Final Four they had

  ever experienced. Some spectators came

  to watch badminton for the first time

  and left absolutely thrilled – and that,

  of course, meant the most to us. When

  both the players and the fans praise

  the event, we know all the effort was

  worth it.

  Was there anything that pleasantly

  surprised you or the entire club during

  the preparations or the tournament

  itself at Ridera Sport?

  Absolutely! We received amazing support

  from the team around Mr Libor Uher from

  WOODARÉNA Ostravice – they helped

  us selflessly and with great dedication,

  and their approach was truly exceptional.

  And then, of course, our youngsters,

  parents, players. So many willing hands

  and I send a huge thank you to all of them!

  How would you assess communication

  with the Ridera Sport team when

  planning and running club events?

  There’s really nothing to criticise

  – communication is quick, clear,

  and genuinely personal. Everything runs

  like clockwork. We’re very happy with

  the cooperation.

  Do club members also use other

  services at the venue beyond the courts,

  such as recovery facilities or the gym?

  Yes. Recovery facilities, the gym, and even

  space for individual training is used by our

  members and they make full use of all of it.

  And when we need something outside

  of regular training, we know exactly where

  to go and who to turn to.

  What do you see as the main benefit

  of your club’s partnership with Ridera

  Sport? Is there anything you would

  consider exceptional?

  We’ve said a lot already, but we’ll gladly

  repeat it: this is a partnership that works

  brilliantly. The facilities, the support,

  the attitude of the people – everything

  operates at an exceptional level. We’re

  truly grateful for that.

  Would you recommend the venue

  to other sports clubs as a reliable base

  for both competitive and training

  activities?

  Without hesitation, yes. But honestly –

  we kind of hope we’ll remain one of the

  main partners and that we’ll be able

  to enjoy these fantastic facilities for a long

  time to come.

  Moderní trampolínové centrum nabízí aktivní zábavu

  pro děti od 6 let i dospělé. Najdete zde eurotram-

  polínu, pěnovou jámu, lezeckou stěnu i skluzavku

  do molitanu. Jump Aréna je ideální pro rozvoj pohybu

  i pořádání narozeninových oslav.

  Každoročně se v areálu konají příměstské tábory pro

  děti od 6 do 14 let, zaměřené na pohyb, zábavu a roz-

  voj dovedností. Během prázdnin proběhne až 16 tur-

  nusů – každý týden dva s různým zaměřením: tenis

  s angličtinou, všesportovní, florbalový, badmintonový,

  taneční nebo kreativně-sportovní tábor.

  Plánují se také tábory pro nejmladší školáky, které

  by na konci prázdnin pomáhaly s plynulým návratem

  do školního režimu opakováním základního učiva.

  Děti mají k dispozici sportoviště, bazén, relaxační

  zónu i denní výlet do blízkého areálu Skalka. Součástí

  programu jsou také pohybové hry, hledání pokladu

  a týmové úkoly. O děti se starají zkušení trenéři a lek-

  toři a kromě zážitků si malí sportovci odnášejí i nová

  přátelství.

  This modern trampoline centre provides active

  entertainment for children aged 6 and above, as well

  as for adults. It features a Euro trampoline, foam pit,

  climbing wall and a foam slide. Jump Arena is perfect

  for physical development and hosting birthday parties.

  Every year, the complex hosts summer day camps

  for children aged 6 to 14, focused on movement,

  fun and skill development. Up to 16 sessions are

  held throughout the holidays – two each week, each

  with a different focus: tennis and English, multi-sport,

  floorball, badminton, dance or creative-sports camps.

  There are also plans for camps for younger schoolchildren,

  helping them ease back into school routines at the end

  of the holidays by revising basic schoolwork.

  Children have access to sports facilities, the pool,

  a relaxation zone and a day trip to the nearby Skalka

  area. The programme also includes movement games,

  treasure hunts and team challenges. The camps are

  led by experienced coaches and instructors, and along

  with great memories, children often leave with new

  friendships.

  edion of the internaonal athlecs meeng, Golden

  Spike Ostrava. The long-standing partnership with this presgious sporng event is reinforced not

  only by top-level facilies, but also by close collaboraon with key gures in Czech sport. Associate

  Professor Miroslav Černošek, managing director of the TK PLUS agency and co-organiser of the

  Golden Spike Ostrava, shares more about the choice of venue and the ongoing cooperaon.

  Mr Černošek, why did you choose

  the Ridera Sport complex as the venue

  for the sports and social gathering

  during the Golden Spike event?

  The choice of venue was actually very

  natural. Ridera Sport is not only visually

  appealing, but more importantly, it meets

  the high sports and social standards

  we expect from a venue intended for such

  a gathering.

  How would you assess communication

  and cooperation with the Ridera Sport

  I rate our collaboration with the Ridera

  Sport team very positively. We have

  always encountered a thoroughly

  professional attitude, a willingness to find

  solutions, and open communication that

  makes it easier to organise even the most

  demanding activities.

  Jak dlouho již Škoda Vagonka pořádá svůj

  všesportovní den v areálu Ridera Sport? Můžete

  přiblížit, co vlastně znamená „všesportovní den“

  a kdo se akce účastní?

  Areál využíváme od roku 2019 a letos jsme oslavili

  šestý ročník této oblíbené akce, která je určena ne-

  jen pro naše zaměstnance, ale také pro jejich rodiny.

  Pravidelně se jí účastní více než 600 osob a Ridera

  Sport nám po všech stránkách plně vyhovuje.

  Formát všesportovního dne kombinuje sportovní výko-

  ny, týmového ducha i rodinnou pohodu. Hlavními disci-

  plínami jsou beachvolejbal, nohejbal, tenisové čtyřhry,

  badminton a štafetový běh na parkovišti. Během dne je

  otevřen bazén, trampolínové centrum a zajištěny jsou

  také atrakce pro děti – skákací hrady, hry, malování

  na obličej, tetovačky i pískoviště pro nejmenší. Večerní

  část pak tradičně patří zábavě s DJem a živou hudbou

  až do půlnoci. Tento program dělá z všesportovního

  dne ideální teambuildingovou akci i rodinný den.

  Z jakých důvodů jste se rozhodli pořádat akce právě

  v tomto areálu?

  Důvodem výběru Ridera Sport byla nejen jeho výbor-

  ná dostupnost, neboť se nachází u tramvajové zastáv-

  ky a prakticky v centru Ostravy, ale především jeho

  kapacita, kvalitní zázemí a profesionální přístup vedení

  a personálu.

  Po druhém ročníku jsme sice zvažovali změnu lokace,

  abychom akci obměnili, ale v Ostravě jsme nenašli jiné

  prostory, které by nám nabídly srovnatelný komfort.

  Od té doby se k Ridera Sport s důvěrou vracíme každý

  rok a už nepřemýšlíme nad změnou.

  Jak hodnotíte spolupráci s areálem Ridera Sport – co

  si nejvíce ceníte?

  Vyzdvihujeme především profesionální a vstřícný

  přístup celého týmu Ridera Sport. Spolupráce je bez-

  problémová, organizace soutěží je zajištěna včetně

  rozhodčích, a logistika je na velmi vysoké úrovni – par-

  kovací kapacity, šatny i hygienické zázemí jsou zcela

  dostačující. Navíc stravování je výborné – účastníci

  mají k dispozici snídani pro sportovce, teplé obědy

  i další občerstvení během dne. Díky tomu všemu je pro

  nás organizace akce výrazně jednodušší a efektivnější.

  Plánujete v pořádání všesportovních dnů pokračovat

  i v dalších letech?

  Rozhodně ano. Ridera Sport se stal nedílnou součástí

  této naší tradice. Termíny si rezervujeme s dostateč-

  ným předstihem. Tuto spolupráci považujeme za sta-

  bilní a velmi přínosnou.

  Each year, hundreds of employees from Škoda Vagonka—and more recently, its sister company

  Škoda Ekova—gather at the Ridera Sport complex. In an interview with CEO Ing. Marn Bednarz,

  we learn why this mulfunconal venue in Ostrava remains the only locaon that has consistently

  met the demanding requirements for a full-day corporate event that blends sports, family-friendly

  acvies and evening entertainment.

  How long has Škoda Vagonka been holding its

  All-Sports Day at the Ridera Sport complex? Could

  you explain what exactly an „All-Sports Day“ entails

  and who takes part in the event?

  We‘ve been using the venue since 2019, and this year

  marked the sixth edition of this popular event, which

  is designed not only for our employees but also for

  their families. It regularly attracts over 600 participants,

  and Ridera Sport suits our needs perfectly in every

  respect.

  The format of the All-Sports Day combines athletic

  performance, team spirit, and a relaxed family

  atmosphere. The main events include beach volleyball,

  foot tennis, doubles tennis, badminton, and a relay race

  held in the car park. Throughout the day, the swimming

  pool and trampoline centre are open. There are plenty

  of attractions for children—bouncy castles, games,

  face painting, temporary tattoos, and even a sandbox

  for the youngest visitors. The evening segment

  is traditionally dedicated to entertainment with a DJ

  and live music lasting until midnight. This diverse

  programme makes it an ideal team building event,as

  well as a family day.

  What made you decide to host the event specifically

  at this venue?

  We chose Ridera Sport not only for its excellent

  accessibility—it’s located right by a tram stop

  and practically in the centre of Ostrava—but above

  all for its large capacity, high-quality facilities,

  and the professional attitude of its management

  and staff.

  After the second edition, we did consider changing

  the location to bring something new to the event,

  but we couldn’t find another venue in Ostrava that

  offered a comparable level of comfort. Since then,

  we‘ve returned to Ridera Sport every year with

  confidence, and we‘re no longer considering a change.

  How would you rate your collaboration with Ridera

  Sport and what do you value the most?

  What we appreciate most is the professional

  and accommodating approach of the entire Ridera

  Sport team. The cooperation runs smoothly, with

  competition logistics fully managed, including

  referees. The organisation overall is of a very high

  standard—there’s ample parking, sufficient changing

  rooms, and excellent hygiene facilities. On top of that,

  the catering is outstanding—participants are provided

  with a sports breakfast, hot lunches, and snacks

  throughout the day. All of this makes the event

  significantly easier and more efficient for us to organise.

  Do you plan to continue organising

  “All-Sports Day” in the years to come?

  Absolutely. Ridera Sport has become an integral part

  of this tradition. We book our dates well in advance

  and consider this partnership both stable and highly

  beneficial.

  – thanks to the combination of indoor and outdoor

  Everything is arranged turnkey – from catering,

  entertainment and technical support to decorations

  and service staff. If required, the entire complex can

  be reserved for private use. The Ridera Sport team has

  experience with large-scale events – they’ve hosted

  over 600 guests in a single day, from early morning

  to late evening. Thanks to in-house event management,

  they’re fast, efficient and flexible – a key reason why

  companies return again and again.

  The Ridera Sport reception serves as the main entry

  point and visitor hub. The adjacent café is the perfect

  place to relax with a coffee, dessert or light snack –

  ideal both before and after a workout.

  There is also a sports shop on site offering essential

  tennis and badminton equipment, along with test

  racquet rentals and a professional stringing service.

  A large-capacity car park is located right in front

  of the sports facilities, ensuring stress-free parking for

  visitors. The complex is also easily accessible by public

  transport.

  Ridera Sport works with schools and kindergartens

  to organise events that encourage movement,

  teamwork and enjoyment. They offer sports days

  full of games and competitions, kids’ tennis classes,

  themed excursions and the popular “The Whole Class

  Jumps” programme in the Jump Aréna.

  Recepce Ridera Sport slouží jako vstupní bod i zázemí

  Když si Generali Česká pojišťovna vybírala místo pro svou klíčovou akci, předčil Ridera Sport i Prahu

  či Brno. Proč se stal tento ostravský areál srdcovkou pro desítky obchodních partnerů i manažerů

  z celé České republiky? Odpovídá emeritní prezident GČP CUP Ostrava Ing. Josef Sluka.

  Proč jste si pro pořádání vašich každoročních akcí

  zvolili právě areál Ridera Sport?

  Společnost Česká pojišťovna a.s. začala využívat are-

  ál Ridera Sport již od roku 2009 jako hlavní místo pro

  každoroční společensko-sportovní akci. Toto místo jsme

  vybrali zcela záměrně a upřednostnili jej před jinými lo-

  kalitami, včetně Prahy a Brna. Důvodem byla kombina-

  ce několika klíčových faktorů – výhodná poloha areálu

  v blízkosti hotelového ubytování, vlastní kapacitní par-

  koviště (což je v dané lokalitě významná výhoda), široká

  nabídka sportovních i relaxačních aktivit a možnost uza-

  vření celého areálu výhradně pro naši akci.

  Jak taková akce obvykle vypadá a co všechno během

  ní probíhá?

  Tato akce, která se stala největší událostí korporátního

  obchodu Morava, každoročně přiláká 80-100 účast-

  níků z celé České republiky – obchodní partnery, ve-

  dení i další kolegy. Areál Ridera Sport byl vybrán pro

  svou komplexnost, přístupnost i skvělé zázemí a od té

  doby jsme nikdy nebyli zklamáni. Jde o ideální místo

  pro naše potřeby – jak z hlediska sportovního, tak

  společenského a obchodního. Akce obvykle probíhá

  od ranních hodin až do půlnoci, hlavní akcí je tenisový

  turnaj neregistrovaných hráčů ve čtyřhře, dále se hraje

  badminton, pétanque, je zde možnost využití wellnes-

  su, konají se obchodní jednání i neformální setkávání.

  Co byste řekl o kvalitě služeb a přístupu personálu?

  Areál byl vždy vyhrazen výhradně pro nás, což výrazně

  přispívá k jeho výjimečnosti. Personál je mimořádně

  ochotný, milý a profesionální. Vyšli nám vstříc i v době

  pandemie, zajistili bezpečnostní opatření, včetně rou-

  šek. Každý rok se něco zlepšuje – novinky, inovace,

  vylepšení, což ukazuje, že areál žije a rozvíjí se.

  Zásadní roli v hladkém průběhu akce sehrávají ob-

  chodní ředitelé. Zažili jsme již čtyři a všichni byli velmi

  profesionální. Zejména pan Pavel Klimek, který si potr-

  pí na styl, pořádek a kvalitní občerstvení, přispívá k vy-

  soké úrovni celé akce. Díky majiteli se úroveň udržela

  a stále roste, čehož si vážím.

  Jaký význam má pro vás osobně a pro vaši firmu

  areál Ridera Sport?

  Pro Generali Česká pojišťovna zůstává Ridera Sport

  nejen praktickou volbou, ale i místem, které naši lidé

  vnímají jako srdcovou záležitost. Těšíme se na nadchá-

  When Generali Česká pojišťovna was selecng a venue for its key event, Ridera Sport outshone

  even Prague and Brno. So why has this Ostrava-based complex become a favourite for dozens

  of business partners and managers from across the country? We asked the honorary president

  of the GČP CUP Ostrava, Ing. Josef Sluka.

  Why did you choose the Ridera Sport

  complex as the venue for your

  annual events?

  Česká pojišťovna a.s. has been using

  the Ridera Sport complex as the main

  venue for its annual social and sporting

  event since 2009. We made this choice

  deliberately, preferring it over other

  locations, including Prague and Brno.

  The decision was based on a combination

  of key factors – the strategic location close

  to hotel accommodation, the availability

  of on-site parking (a significant advantage

  in the area), a wide range of sports

  and relaxation activities, and the possibility

  to reserve the entire complex exclusively

  for our event.

  What does such an event typically

  look like, and what takes place during

  the day?

  This event, now the largest corporate

  business gathering in Moravia, attracts

  80–100 participants from across the Czech

  Republic each year – including business

  partners, management, and colleagues.

  Ridera Sport was chosen for its all-in-one

  facilities, accessibility, and excellent

  infrastructure, and we’ve never been

  disappointed. It’s the perfect venue

  for our needs – whether sporting, social,

  or business-related. The programme

  runs from early morning until midnight.

  The main attraction is a doubles tennis

  tournament for unregistered players,

  but guests also enjoy badminton,

  pétanque, access to the wellness

  area, business meetings, and informal

  networking sessions.

  What would you say about the quality

  of services and the attitude of the staff?

  The complex has always been reserved

  exclusively for us, which greatly adds to its

  uniqueness. The staff are exceptionally

  helpful, friendly, and professional.

  They accommodated us even during

  the pandemic, ensuring all necessary

  safety measures, including face masks.

  Every year, something improves – new

  features, innovations, enhancements –

  which clearly shows that the complex

  is alive and evolving.

  A crucial role in the smooth running

  of the event is played by the commercial

  directors. We’ve worked with four so far,

  and they all have been highly professional.

  In particular, Mr Pavel Klimek, who

  is known for his sense of style, order,

  and quality catering, contributes

  significantly to the high standard of the

  entire event. Thanks to the owner’s efforts,

  the level of service has not only been

  maintained but continues to improve –

  something I truly appreciate.

  What does the Ridera Sport complex

  mean to you personally and to your

  company?

  Sport remains not only a practical choice

  but also a place that our people hold close

  Pane Schrebenský, mohl byste nám přiblížit, jak jste

  se dostal k tenisu a jaké byly vaše začátky v klubu

  SK Vítkovice 1926 – Ridera?

  Moje začátky se datují asi do roku 1972, kdy mě k te-

  nisu přivedl můj otec, aktivní hráč téhož tenisového

  klubu, a později, až do své smrti v roce 1975, trenér do-

  rostenců. On mě naučil první krůčky a základy tenisu,

  které jsem po jeho odchodu rozvíjel s jinými trenéry.

  Tehdejší doba je asi pro dnešní mladé hráče a hráčky

  nepředstavitelná. Měli jsme nedostatek míčů, pokud

  jste chtěli trochu lepší raketu nebo vybavení, museli

  jste nakupovat přes známé z Německa nebo Rakouska

  nebo od hráčů, kteří se dostali za hranice. Ta radost,

  když jste se dostali k něčemu, co jste dlouho sháněli,

  byla nepopsatelná. Ale mělo to své kouzlo.

  Byli jsme tady dobrá parta kluků jak v žácích, tak v do-

  rostu, které tenis bavil a kteří na kurtech a v okolí trávili

  čas i mimo oficiální tréninky. Hráli jsme nejen tenis, ale

  i fotbálek, vymýšleli si různé soutěže... Myslím, že dnes

  už to tak bohužel není.

  Jak se podle vás proměnil areál Ridera Sport od dob,

  kdy jste aktivně hrával, až do současnosti?

  Areál se proměnil velmi, a to k lepšímu. Bylo vybudo-

  váno zázemí, o kterém se nám v 80. letech minulého

  století ani nezdálo, a které je pro sportovce výborné

  – bazén, masáže, sauna, v zimě hala – asi nejlepší

  v Ostravě. Je toho opravdu hodně. Hráči, trenéři i hos-

  té uvítají bufet a i možnost po hře relaxovat či využívat

  zázemí pro regeneraci. Současný majitel se stará a vel-

  mi dbá na to, aby se zde hráči a jejich doprovod cítili

  dobře.

  Areál je vhodně uzpůsoben pro pořádání turnajů jak

  závodních, tak rekreačních hráčů. Zejména v létě je

  zde i příjemné posezení.

  Zůstáváte i nadále v kontaktu s klubem

  SK Vítkovice 1926 – Ridera? Podílíte se nějak

  na jeho aktivitách nebo rozvoji?

  V kontaktu s klubem zůstávám tím, že zde ve volném

  čase stále aktivně hraji. Vytvořili jsme skvělou partu,

  složenou jak z bývalých závodních hráčů, tak i z rekre-

  ačních sportovců. Turnaje, které Ridera Sport pro tyto

  hráče pravidelně pořádá, přispívají k posilování těchto

  přátelských vazeb.

  Jak vnímáte současnou úroveň tenisového tréninku

  a zázemí v Ridera Sport ve srovnání s minulostí?

  Výkonnostní tenis na klubové úrovni nesleduji, ale

  vím, že jsou zde kvalitní trenéři, kteří mají začínajícím

  hráčům co nabídnout. Vznikla zde Národní tenisová

  akademie, což svědčí o tom, že zdejší trenéři odvádějí

  svou práci na výbornou.

  Za opravdu dobrý počin považuji to, že mladí závodní

  hráči mají možnost si zahrát s dospělými na turnajích

  pořádaných pro rekreační hráče. Narazí nejen na re-

  kreanty, ale i na bývalé tenisty, kteří jim mohou pomoci

  radou nebo různými herními variantami, takže mladí

  mohou vidět, že tenis není jen o síle a razanci úderů,

  ale především o přemýšlení a taktice. Je jen na nich, co

  si z toho do budoucna odnesou.

  Máte nějaké rady nebo poselství pro mladé tenisty,

  kteří dnes začínají svou cestu v tomto klubu?

  Tenis je těžký sport už proto, že je to individuální sport

  a nemůžete se za nikoho schovat jako v kolektivním

  sportu. Všechno si musíte vydřít sami. Chtěl bych mla-

  dým začínajícím tenistům popřát, aby je tenis bavil, tak

  jako bavil nás v jejich věku a aby s prvními neúspěchy

  neházeli „flintu do žita“. Je to hodně o píli a vytrvalosti

  – a pak se úspěchy dostaví.

  Ne z každého samozřejmě může být Lendl nebo

  Kvitová, ale pokud se jednou základy tenisu naučí, tak

  i když se nebudou tenisem živit, už v nich zůstanou,

  a třeba si v pozdějším věku taky najdou nějakou partič-

  ku, se kterou si budou chodit zahrát jen tak pro radost,

  protože tenis je hra, která se dá hrát v každém věku.

  Marn Schrebenský – a long-me member of the SK Vítkovice 1926 – Ridera tennis community,

  recreaonal player and witness to its history – shares the story of how a single sports facility

  evolved into a living organism where sporng heritage merges with modern amenies and strong

  human connecons. For him, Ridera Sport is not just a place for physical acvity, but above all

  an environment that fosters genuine friendships, supports the development of young players

  and connually moves forward.

  Mr Schrebenský, could you tell us how

  you first got into tennis and what your

  early days at SK Vítkovice 1926 – Ridera

  were like?

  My beginnings date back to around 1972,

  when it was my father—an active player

  at the same tennis club and later, until

  his passing in 1975, a youth coach—who

  introduced me to the sport. He taught

  me the first steps and the basics of tennis,

  which I continued to develop with other

  coaches after he was gone. That era

  is probably unimaginable for today’s young

  players. We had a shortage of balls, and if

  you wanted a better racket or equipment,

  you had to rely on contacts in Germany

  or Austria, or get it from players who

  had travelled abroad. The joy you felt

  when you finally got hold of something

  you‘d been chasing for a long time was

  indescribable. But it had its charm.

  We had a great group of boys back then,

  both in the juniors and youth categories,

  who genuinely enjoyed tennis and spent

  time on the courts, around the club, even

  outside official training. We didn’t just

  play tennis—we kicked around a football

  and came up with all sorts of competitions.

  I’m afraid things are no longer like that

  today.

  How would you say the Ridera Sport

  complex has changed from the time you

  were actively playing to the present day?

  The facility has changed significantly—and

  for the better. A range of amenities has

  been built that we couldn’t even have

  dreamed of back in the 1980s. Such

  Amenities that are excellent for athletes—

  there’s a swimming pool, massages,

  a sauna, and a hall for winter play—are

  probably the best in Ostrava. There’s

  really a lot to offer. Players, coaches

  and guests all appreciate the on-site café

  and the chance to relax after a game

  or use the recovery facilities. The current

  owner is attentive and very committed

  to making sure that players and their

  guests feel comfortable here.

  The venue is well suited to hosting both

  competitive and recreational tournaments.

  Especially in the summer, as it offers

  a pleasant place to sit and spend time.

  Do you still stay in touch with

  the SK Vítkovice 1926 – Ridera club?

  Are you involved in any of its activities

  or development?

  Yes, I do stay in touch with the club

  by continuing to play actively here in my

  free time. We’ve formed a great group

  made up of both former competitive players

  and recreational athletes. The tournaments

  that Ridera Sport regularly organise for

  these players help to strengthen these

  friendships even further.

  How do you perceive the current level

  of tennis training and facilities

  at Ridera Sport compared to the past?

  I don’t closely follow competitive club-level

  tennis, but I know there are skilled coaches

  here who have a lot to offer to up-and-

  coming players. The establishment of the

  National Tennis Academy is proof that

  the coaches here are doing an excellent job.

  What I consider a truly positive initiative

  is that young competitive players have

  the opportunity to play alongside adults

  in tournaments organised for recreational

  players. They don’t only encounter casual

  players, but also former competitive

  players who can offer advice or introduce

  them to different playing styles. It gives

  the younger ones a chance to realise that

  tennis is not just about power and hard-

  hitting strokes, but above all about thinking

  and strategy. It’s entirely up to them what

  they take away from that experience

  for the future.

  Do you have any advice or message

  for young tennis players who are just

  beginning their journey at this club?

  Tennis is a tough sport, mainly because it’s

  an individual one—you can’t hide behind

  anyone else as you might in a team sport.

  You have to earn everything yourself. I’d

  like to wish young, aspiring tennis players

  to truly enjoy the game, just as we did

  at their age, and not to throw in the towel

  at the first sign of failure. It‘s very much

  about hard work and perseverance—and

  if they stick with it, success will follow.

  Of course, not everyone can become

  a Lendl or a Kvitová, but once you learn

  the fundamentals of tennis, they stay with

  you for life. Even if tennis doesn’t become

  your career, you might still find a group

  later on to play with just for the joy of it—

  because tennis is a game you can enjoy

  at any age.

  vítkovického tenisového klubu

  Psal se rok 1922, když ve Vítkovicích vznikl první tenisový kurt – nenápadný začátek, který dal

  základ organizovanému sportovnímu životu v této čás Ostravy. Už o pět let později, v roce

  1927, byl ociálně ustaven tenisový klub pod hlavičkou SSK Vítkovice (Sportovní a sokolský klub

  Vítkovice). Tehdejší nadšenci začali budovat zázemí a komunitu, která vydržela i ty nejtěžší časy.

  Za sto let prošel klub neuvěřitelným vývojem – přežil války, změny režimů, proměny zázemí i názvů.

  Přesto si vždy udržel to nejcennější: vášeň pro sport, silné lidské vazby a schopnost adaptace.

  Zlatá 20. léta: Od prvního úderu k organizovanému klubu

  30. a 50. léta: Soutěžní úspěchy, rozmach a válka

  50. a 60. léta: Práce, obnova a tenis pro všechny

  Na počátku 20. let minulého století se začíná ve

  Vítkovicích psát historie tenisu. Podle pamětníků vznikl

  první kurt a jednoduchá tréninková stěna pravděpo-

  dobně už kolem roku 1922 v městských sadech. V létě

  zde fungovaly tenisové dvorce, v zimě kluziště.

  Zpočátku si místní sportovní nadšenci upravovali pro-

  stor svépomocí. Už roku 1925 odehrál tým Vítkovic

  první meziklubové utkání v Místku, které odstartovalo

  pravidelnou závodní činnost. Následně vznikl teniso-

  vý oddíl SSK Vítkovice, u jehož zrodu stál sportovec

  MUDr. Karel Toman.

  Už na sklonku téhož roku se ve Vítkovicích konal první

  turnaj většího rozsahu na Ostravsku, kterého se zú-

  častnili závodníci celého kraje. Postupně se z něj stal

  tradiční turnaj, jenž se konal každoročně a vyvinul se

  v pozdější župní a dnešní krajský přebor jednotlivců.

  Období přineslo klubu výrazný rozmach. Velký po-

  díl nesl inženýr Tyc, který od roku 1927 zajišťoval

  řadu meziklubových utkání a podílel se i na vzniku

  Moravskoslezské lawn-tenisové župy v roce 1930. Tím

  byl položen základ organizovaného soutěžního tenisu

  v moravském kraji.

  Vítkovice v ní patřily k nejlepším týmům a vyvrchole-

  ním předválečné éry se stal titul župního přeborníka

  z roku 1937. Druhá světová válka však přinesla útlum

  – dvorce byly poškozeny nebo zabrány a činnost

  omezena.

  V roce 1946 se tenisový oddíl přestěhoval na stadion,

  který během války využíval německý sportovní klub

  DSV Witkowitz – tedy na místo dnešního areálu Ridera

  Sport. Stadion tehdy nesl název TJ VŽKG (Tělovýchovná

  jednota Vítkovických železáren Klementa Gottwalda).

  Klub byl začleněn pod podnik VŽKG a nesl název

  SK VŽKG – Sportovní klub Vítkovických železáren

  Klementa Gottwalda.

  Díky iniciativě členů a dobrovolným brigádám vede-

  ným Rudolfem Klepáčem a správcem Janem Duzou,

  vznikly v roce 1949 čtyři nové dvorce pro mládež.

  Tenisté tehdy odpracovali přes 2200 hodin na výstav-

  bě – závazek ke všesokolskému sletu dokonce pře-

  kročili o 29 %. Klub plánoval i pět nových žákovských

  hřišť. Sportovní činnost se rozběhla naplno a tenis se

  stal součástí širší komunitní aktivity.

  V 60. letech měl každý člen i host odpracovat alespoň

  10 hodin ročně při jarní úpravě kurtů. Spadala zde

  i účast oddílu na akci „Z“ (zvelebení města). Brigádníci

  budovali odrazovou stěnu, upravovali hlavní dvorec

  i nová hřiště. Vznikal klub, kde se potkával sport s ob-

  čanským duchem.

  Současnost: Moderní sportovní centrum evropského formátu

  Vítkovický tenisový klub, od roku 2016 známý pod

  názvem SK Vítkovice 1926 – Ridera, z. s., není jen kro-

  nikou výsledků. Je především příběhem lidí, kteří mu

  věnovali čas, energii a srdce.

  Jeho domovem je dnes moderní areál Ridera Sport –

  centrum, které propojuje špičkové sportovní podmín-

  ky s komunitní energií. Od roku 2020 se zde připravují

  nejen domácí talenty, ale i světové hvězdy, které na-

  šly v Ostravě zázemí během turnaje WTA J&T Banka

  Ostrava Open. Ne náhodou zde trénovaly hráčky

  jako Iga Świątek, Karolína Plíšková, Victoria Azarenka,

  Aryna Sabalenka, Cori Gauff a Karolína Muchová.

  Areál se postupně rozrostl v multifunkční prostor

  s tenisovými a badmintonovými ligami, fitness cent-

  rem, moderním wellness, bazénem, golfovým záze-

  mím (indoor), trampolínovou halou Sport Jump Aréna

  a zázemím pro příměstské tábory, tréninková soustře-

  dění i společenské akce. Klub zůstává věrný své tradici

  výchovy mladých sportovců – prostřednictvím středi-

  sek TSM a NTA nabízí cestu, která spojuje sportovní

  růst s osobnostním vývojem.

  Nabízí tak nejen špičkové zázemí, ale i osvědčenou

  cestu pro mladé talenty. A právě tato kombinace tradi-

  ce, lidského nasazení a sportovní vášně je jeho největ-

  ším vítězstvím.

  90. léta: Tenis pro veřejnost a neregistrované

  Po roce 1989 se mění nejen politické poměry, ale

  i charakter klubového dění. Do popředí se dostává

  otevřenost a podpora amatérského sportu. Symbolem

  této éry se stal Kubíčkův memoriál – turnaj pro neregis-

  trované hráče, kde bodovali například bývalí hokejisté

  Prorok a Metelka. Klub se tak přirozeně přiblížil široké

  veřejnosti a upevnil svou komunitní roli.

  Vítkovický klub se prosadil i na profesionální scéně

  – v roce 1996 se mu podařil návrat do I. ligy a v le-

  tech 1994–1998 se podílel na organizaci prestižního

  turnaje ATP Tour IPB Czech Indoor Cup, díky němuž

  do Ostravy zavítaly tenisové legendy jako Andre

  Agassi, Pete Sampras, Goran Ivanišević či Petr Korda.

  70. a 80. léta: Sportovní úspěchy, komunita a výstavba haly

  Družstvo TJ VŽKG dosáhlo významných vítězství – na-

  příklad výhrou 13:4 nad Baníkem Ostrava si zajistilo po-

  stup ve II. lize. Výraznou osobností byla Ing. Švendová,

  která kromě očekávaných bodů překvapila vítězstvím

  i nad silnější soupeřkou. Klub se v té době těšil silné

  členské základně a rostoucí sportovní úrovni.

  Silnou stránkou klubu byl také komunitní a společen-

  ský život. Konaly se pravidelné výjezdy – například

  do Maďarska (Red Hazel) – a rozvíjely se přátelské

  vztahy mezi oddíly. Klub fungoval jako přirozené cent-

  rum volného času, kde děti i dospělí trávili podstatnou

  část dne a vytvářeli si trvalé vzpomínky.

  Klub se dál rozvíjel. Právě v 80. letech byla v areálu

  brigádnicky postavena první pevná tenisová hala v kra-

  ji, která vznikla za aktivní účasti členů oddílu i rodičů

  žáků. Šlo o výjimečné zázemí: hala byla součástí širšího

  sportovního areálu a nabízela profesionální podmínky

  pro trénink i soutěže. Dodnes je unikátní díky nad-

  standardní výšce stropu a speciálnímu odpruženému

  povrchu na dřevěném roštu, který výrazně šetří klouby

  hráčů a patří k nejlepším v celé České republice.

  V této době se také vystřídali správci kurtů –

  po Jaroslavu Fabiánovi přebral správu Jan Krpela. Rok

  1985 byl pro klub výjimečný – vítkovický tenis slavil 60

  let – a zároveň se konala i Velká cena veteránů, které

  se zúčastnilo 171 hráčů z celé republiky. Turnaj se stal

  jednou z nejlépe hodnocených akcí sezóny.

  Vítkovický klub byl tehdy považován za druhý největší

  v Ostravě po TJ NHKG (Tělovýchovná jednota Nová

  Huť Klementa Gottwalda) a stabilně působil ve druhé

  tenisové lize. Pravidelně pořádal celou řadu turnajů –

  některé z nich se s úspěchem konají dodnes.

  Z této éry pochází i významní hráči: Pavel Moravec,

  Radovan Světlík, mistr republiky ve čtyřhře a hráč okru-

  hu ATP, nebo Pavel Šnobel, čtyřnásobný mistr ČR ve

  dvouhře a účastník turnajů ATP.

  The Golden Twenes: From the First Serve to an Organised Club

  The 1930s to 1950s: Compeve Success, Expansion and War

  The 1950s and 1960s: Hard Work, Restoraon and Tennis for All

  The history of tennis in Vítkovice began in the early

  1920s. According to eyewitness accounts, the first court

  and a simple practice wall were likely set up as early

  as 1922 in the city park. In the summer, the space served

  as tennis courts; in winter, it turned into an ice rink.

  At first, local sports enthusiasts maintained the court

  themselves. As early as 1925, the Vítkovice team

  played its first interclub match in Místek, which marked

  the beginning of regular competitive play. This was soon

  followed by the founding of the SSK Vítkovice tennis

  division, spearheaded by sportsman Dr Karel Toman.

  By the end of that same year, Vítkovice hosted the first

  large-scale tournament in the Ostrava region, drawing

  players from across the area. Over time, it became

  a well-established annual event, eventually evolving

  into what was once the district championship and is

  now the regional singles championship.

  This period marked significant growth for the club.

  A key figure was engineer Tyc, who from 1927 onwards

  organised numerous interclub matches and played

  an important role in the establishment of the

  Moravian-Silesian Lawn Tennis Association in 1930. This

  laid the foundation for structured competitive tennis

  in the Moravian region. Vítkovice soon became one

  of the top teams in the association, with the highlight

  of the pre-war era being their district championship

  title in 1937. However, the outbreak of the Second

  World War brought a sharp decline – courts were

  damaged or requisitioned, and activities were heavily

  curtailed.

  In 1946, the tennis division relocated to the stadium

  that had been used during the war by the German

  sports club DSV Witkowitz – the site of today’s Ridera

  Sport complex. At that time, the stadium was known

  as TJ VŽKG (Sports Association of the Vítkovice

  Ironworks – Klement Gottwald). The club became

  part of the VŽKG enterprise and took on the name SK

  VŽKG – the Sports Club of the Vítkovice Ironworks

  Klement Gottwald.

  Thanks to the initiative of its members and voluntary

  work brigades led by Rudolf Klepáč and caretaker Jan

  Duza, four new youth courts were built in 1949. Tennis

  players put in over 2,200 hours of work – exceeding

  their commitment to the All-Sokol Rally by 29%.

  The club even planned five additional courts for junior

  players. Sporting activity resumed in full, and tennis

  became a central part of broader community life.

  In the 1960s, every member and guest was expected

  to contribute at least 10 hours a year preparing

  the courts in spring. This included participation

  in the “Action for Improvement” initiative. Volunteers

  built a rebound wall, upgraded the main court

  and developed new playing fields. The club evolved

  into a place where sport met civic spirit.

  The year was 1922 when the rst tennis court was built in Vítkovice – a modest beginning that

  laid the foundaon for organised sporng life in this part of Ostrava. Just ve years later, in 1927,

  the tennis club was ocially established under the banner of SSK Vítkovice (Sportovní a sokolský

  klub Vítkovice – the Sports and Sokol Club Vítkovice). Enthusiasts at that me began to develop

  facilies and a community that would endure even the most dicult of mes.

  Over the course of a century, the club has undergone an incredible transformaon – surviving

  wars, polical regime changes, and shis in both infrastructure and name. Yet it has always retained

  its most valuable assets: a passion for sport, strong human bonds, and the ability to adapt.

  The 1970s and 1980s: Sporng Success, Community Spirit and the

  Construcon of the Indoor Hall

  The TJ VŽKG team achieved significant victories during

  this era – for example, a 13–4 win over Baník Ostrava

  secured their promotion to the Second League. A key

  figure was Ing. Švendová, who not only delivered

  the expected wins but also surprised everyone

  by defeating a much stronger opponent. At the time,

  the club enjoyed a strong membership base and an

  increasingly competitive standard of play.

  One of the club’s great strengths was its strong

  community and social spirit. Regular trips took place

  – including to Hungary (Red Hazel) – and friendships

  flourished between clubs. The club served as a natural

  hub of leisure, where both children and adults spent

  a considerable part of their day and built lasting

  memories.

  The club continued to develop. In the 1980s, the first

  permanent indoor tennis hall in the region was built

  through volunteer work, with active involvement

  from club members and the parents of young players.

  It was an exceptional facility – part of a broader sports

  complex – offering professional conditions for both

  training and competition. To this day, it remains unique

  thanks to its above-standard ceiling height and a special

  shock-absorbing surface laid on a wooden frame, which

  provides exceptional joint protection and ranks among

  the very best in the Czech Republic.During this period,

  there was a change in court management – after Jaroslav

  Fabián, maintenance was taken over by Jan Krpela.

  The year 1985 was particularly special – the Vítkovice

  tennis club celebrated its 60th anniversary and hosted

  the Veterans Grand Prix, which welcomed 171 players

  from across the country. The tournament became one

  of the most highly rated events of the season.

  At that time, the Vítkovice club was considered

  the second-largest in Ostrava, after TJ NHKG (Nová

  Huť Klementa Gottwalda), and held a stable position

  in the second national tennis league. It regularly hosted

  a number of tournaments – some of which continue

  to be successfully held to this day.

  This era also saw the rise of notable players: Pavel

  Moravec, Radovan Světlík – national doubles champion

  and ATP circuit player – and Pavel Šnobel, four-

  time Czech singles champion and ATP tournament

  participant.

  The 1990s: Tennis for the Public and Unregistered Players

  Today: A Modern Sports Centre of European Standards

  After 1989, political change brought a shift in the

  club’s character as well. Openness and support for

  amateur sport came to the forefront. A symbol of this

  new era was the Kubíček Memorial – a tournament for

  unregistered players, where even former ice hockey

  players like Prorok and Metelka made their mark.

  The club naturally grew closer to the wider public

  and strengthened its role as a community hub.

  The Vítkovice club also made an impact on the

  professional scene – in 1996, it earned a return

  to the First League and between 1994 and 1998,

  it co-organised the prestigious ATP Tour event, the IPB

  Czech Indoor Cup. Thanks to this tournament, tennis

  legends such as Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, Goran

  Ivanišević and Petr Korda came to Ostrava.

  Since 2016, the Vítkovice Tennis Club has been known

  as SK Vítkovice 1926 – Ridera, z. s. But more than

  a record of results, it is above all a story of people who

  have dedicated their time, energy and passion to it.

  Its home today is the modern Ridera Sport complex

  – a centre that combines top-level sporting conditions

  with a strong sense of community. Since 2020,

  it has served as a training base not only for local

  talents but also for global stars who found a home

  in Ostrava during the WTA J&T Banka Ostrava Open.

  It is no coincidence that players such as Iga Świątek,

  Karolína Plíšková, Victoria Azarenka, Aryna Sabalenka,

  Cori Gauff and Karolína Muchová have all trained here.

  The complex has gradually grown into a multifunctional

  space, now offering tennis and badminton leagues,

  a fitness centre, modern wellness facilities, a swimming

  pool, an indoor golf zone, the Sport Jump Arena

  trampoline hall, and infrastructure for day camps,

  training sessions and social events. The club remains

  committed to its tradition of developing young athletes

  – through the TSM and NTA programmes, it provides

  a path that nurtures both sporting performance

  and personal growth.

  It thus offers not only excellent facilities, but also

  a proven route for rising talents. And it is this

  combination of tradition, dedication and sporting

  passion that stands as its greatest achievement.
