ká a ekonomická stabilita, geografická poloha, vynikající
právní rámec a kvalitní vzdělávací systém. Máme spoustu
zkušeností a osvědčených postupů a jsme připraveni je
sdílet s českými podniky, zvláště v inovační oblasti, neboť
se jedná o holandskou prioritu. Nizozemsko nabízí podni-
kům prostředí přívětivé pro inovace a obchod. Naše země
také umožňuje spolupráci s některými světovými společ-
nostmi a výzkumnými ústavy.
Inovace a aplikovaný výzkum jsou základem konkuren-
ceschopnosti. Jaké jsou možnosti spolupráce a zapojení
univerzit z obou zemí?
Nizozemsko klade vysokou hodnotu na podporu vzdě-
lávání a jako letošní prioritu si stanovilo oblast inovací,
takže je spojení obou témat pro nás důležité. Potkal jsem
se s českým ministrem školství, mládeže a tělovýchovy
panem Plagou a společně jsme diskutovali o budoucích
oblastech spolupráce. Součástí mé návštěvy v regionu je
také Moravskoslezské inovační centrum v Ostravě, které
úzce spolupracuje s univerzitami v regionu. Doufám, že
budeme mít více času, abychom diskutovali také o mož-
nosti zapojení nizozemské strany.
Moravu a Slezsko, hlavně Jeseníky a Beskydy, si oblíbilo
mnoho Nizozemců. Navštívil jste tento region a máte ně-
jaké oblíbené místo?
Bohužel se do tohoto regionu vydávám poprvé, ale o to
více se těším na jeho návštěvu. Vím o regionální spoluprá-
ci s holandskými společnostmi, například holandská spo-
lečnost Bike Fun International vyrábí krásná kola v továrně
v Kopřivnici. Chystám se také navštívit Dolní oblast Vítko-
vic, zde oceňuji regeneraci tohoto průmyslového dědictví
a opravdu si vážím toho, že bude místo zachováno i pro
příští generace. Slyšel jsem o krásné horské přírodě a dou-
fám, že se zde budu vracet opakovaně, protože je mou
prioritou pro příští měsíce právě více regionálních návštěv.
Domnívám se, že je skutečně důležité zvýšit povědomí
o lokální spolupráci mezi podniky.
Dear Ambassador, The Netherlands is one of the largest
investors in the Czech Republic and many companies also
operate in our region. How do you see the arrival of Dutch
companies with research and innovation potential?
The Netherlands and the Czech Republic have more
in common, both in and outside business, than it seems.
Both states are open export economies with very healthy
economic bases. There is a no surprise that our countries
have such strong cooperation in trade and investment.
Last year, the Netherlands ranked fourth on the global
competitiveness index and third on the innovation index.
Our strong advantages are political and economic stability,
geographical location, an excellent legal framework, and
a first-class education system. We have plenty of experience
and are ready to share it with Czech businesses, especially
in the area of innovation, as it is one the priorities of the
Dutch. The Netherlands offers businesses an environment
beneficial for innovation and trade. Our country also allows
working with some of the world’s best companies and
research institutes.
Innovation and applied research are the basis for
competitiveness. What are the possibilities for
cooperation with and the involvement of universities from
both countries?
The Netherlands places a high value on supporting
education and with this year´s priority on innovation; it is
an important topic for us. Just last week I met with the
Czech Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Mr. Plaga.
Together we discussed future areas of cooperation.
Part of my visit in the region is to the Moravian-Silesian
Innovation Centre in Ostrava, which is cooperating with
the three main universities in the region. I hope that
during my visit we will have more time to discuss the
possibility of also involving the Dutch side.
Many of the Dutch people have come to like the
Moravian-Silesian Region, especially the Jeseníky and
Beskydy Mountains. Have you visited this region and
do you have a favorite spot?
Unfortunately, it is my first time heading to this region
but that’s why I am looking forward to the visit even
more. I know about the regional cooperation with
Dutch companies as, for example, the Dutch company
Bike Fun International produces beautiful bicycles at the
Kopřivnice factory. I am going to visit Lower Vítkovice,
I appreciate the regeneration of this industrial heritage
and also I really value that the site is going to be preserved
for the next generation. I heard about the beautiful
countryside and can’t wait to come back frequently as
my priority for the next months is more regional visits.
I think it is really important that I raise awareness about
the cooperation of local companies.
