No Compromise When the Environment Is at Stake In Bohumín for over 130 Years
POSITIV 3/2020 65
Mr Petr Teichmann has been the CEO
since 2017. Under his management,
the company has developed a range of
modern products complying with the
strictest emission limits. Mr Teichmann
strives for Viadrus to grow on its history
and traditions as well as to represent
innovation.
Mr Teichmann, a few generations
remember your company as a significant
part of Bohumín. What do you consider
the true milestones in its history?
Viadrus has worked here under various
names for three centuries. The first grey
iron radiators were made in the local
foundry in 1890, and grey-iron solid-fuel
boilers of an original design nearly forty
years later. In 1973, production moved to
a brand-new facility and radiator assembly
hall where the first boiler named “Viadrus”
was made, taking its name from the
mythical god of the Oder River. In 1994,
we decided to use the word as the new
name of our company.
Since 2000, we have renewed our
production lines and expanded our
exports to over forty countries of the
world. In 2008, we started rebranding
the company, significantly innovated
our products, and have been innovating
ever since. We carefully follow topical
trends, have our production automated,
and focus on the development of new
ecological products.
In September 2022, new EU legislation
will introduce even stricter regulations
in ecological heating, banning particular
types of boilers. Are you getting ready
for these regulations?
We have struggled for long-term
ecological responsibility in our company,
therefore we have radically transformed
our production programme in the past
two years. We do prioritize ecological
products. We make boilers burning
biomass, operated on wood and wood
pellets burnt without harmful substances.
We have also enhanced technologies in
solid-fuel boilers so that they could burn
black and brown coals in full accordance
with Ecodesign in its strictest, 5th
emission category. The old type of our
most commercially successful solid-fuel
boiler, U22, is no longer produced (since
autumn 2019).
Coal-powered technologies have
constantly been falling out of style for
some time already. Why have you not
given up the production of the solid-fuel
boiler completely?
The main reason is that many people still
depend on coal-powered heating as it is
the cheapest solution for them, especially
in the uncertain COVID times. However,
our technological enhancement allows
for the production of environmentally-
friendly boilers without any serious
trouble.
If you were to promote a single product
by your company, which one would you
highlight, and why?
Sure, our U22 Economy Pellet boiler,
which we started producing in the spring
of 2020. It complies with all current
and future legislation, including the 5th
emission category and regulations by
Ecodesign. It is listed in the 3rd round of the
Boiler Subsidies programme. Everybody
will grow fond of its unattended operation.
The boiler banks in the pellets, lights up
and extinguishes the fire automatically,
and guarantees high efficiency.
Where can we see your products
displayed?
We regularly attend the Infotherma
exhibitions in Ostrava and Aquatherm
trade fair in Prague, where we introduce
our novelties as well. Our contractors
and customers can also visit our four
showrooms offering advisory service.
They are located in Bohumín, Jindřichův
Hradec, Karlovy Vary, and Plzeň.
Thank you for the interview.
