Inviting Parks, Churches, and Amphitheatre
Bohumín is a dynamic place with much going on all the
time: families with kids go to numerous playgrounds and
Petr Bezruč Park, with its recently renewed amphitheatre.
Hikers love the meanders of the Oder River and the
attractive sight of the boundary stone from the era of
Maria Theresa. Other notable sights include the Church
of the Virgin Mary’s Birth from the 15th century and a
town museum with exposition of archaeological finds.
Industry in Bohumín benefits from the town’s strategic
position and contrasts with large areas of city green.
Most inhabitants of Bohumín and its surroundings
are employed in local industries, the most successful
companies being Bonatrans, České dráhy (Czech
Railways) and Bochemie.
Transformation of Bohumín
The construction of a new terminus, worth sixty million
CZK, started in 2020. It will completely transform the
space in front of the Bohumín Station, improving the
traffic of buses, motor vehicles, and bicycles too. They
will enjoy a new roundabout, a new car park, and bike
boxes with time locks.
That is not the only transformation project in Bohumín.
A new urban forest worth eighteen million CZK is being
developed, and a workers’ colony is being renewed with
an investment of approximately 100 million CZK.
